Methamphetamine ‐related cardiovascular diseases
ConclusionsAwareness is needed as cardiac complications are important causes of morbidity and mortality in patients with MA consumption. Drug abstinence is the mainstay of therapy, cardiac and other complications should be treated according to the respective guidelines. Incompliance to therapy and frequent relapses are the main challenges for successful treatment. Further research is required to improve the understanding of this rapidly increasing cardiomyopathy.

Impact of diabetes on clinical outcome of patients with heart failure undergoing ICD and CRT procedures: results from the German Device Registry
ConclusionsThe overall risk of periprocedural complications and short ‐term (1 year) clinical outcome in patients with DM and HF undergoing ICD or CRT defibrillator (CRT‐D) implantation was not increased. In contrast, CKD was associated with an increased risk of 1 year MACCE in HF patients undergoing ICD/CRT‐D implantation.

Impact of left atrial diameter on outcome in patients undergoing edge ‐to‐edge mitral valve repair: results from the German TRAnscatheter Mitral valve Interventions (TRAMI) registry
ConclusionLeft atrial enlargement is a strong and independent predictor of adverse long ‐term outcome after transcatheter mitral valve repair. Further study is warranted to examine whether timely intervention may have the potential to modify outcome.

Use, Persistence, Efficacy, and Safety of Apixaban in Patients with Non-Valvular Atrial Fibrillation in Unselected Patients in Germany. Results of the Prospective Apixaban in Atrial Fibrillation (APAF) Registry
ConclusionsIn this prospective experience in unselected patients with atrial fibrillation, persistence to apixaban was high, and efficacy and safety were comparable to the results in clinical trials, supporting its use in clinical practice.

Decline of emergency admissions for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events after the outbreak of COVID-19
ConclusionsThe COVID-19 pandemic was associated with a significant decrease in all-cause admission and admissions due to cardiovascular events in the emergency department. Regarding acute cerebrovascular events there was a numerical decrease but no significant difference.

Comparison in Patients < 75 Years of Age - vs – Those > 75 Years on One-Year-Events with Atrial Fibrillation and Left Atrial Appendage Occluder (From the Prospective Multicenter German LAARGE Registry)
Left atrial appendage closure (LAAC) is an alternative to oral anticoagulation therapy in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation for the prevention of embolic stroke and systemic embolism. Although elderly patients (>75 years) have both higher ischemic and bleeding risk as compared to younger patients, they benefit from optimal anticoagulation. The sub-analysis aimed to assess the indications, the safety, efficacy, and 1-year outcomes of interventional LAAC in elderly patients ( ≥ 75 years) compared to younger (

Influence of cardiovascular risk factors on arterial hypertension and mild cognitive impairment in 4602 participants of the ELITE study
Background: In ELITE (Ernährung, Lebensstil und individuelle Information zur Verhinderung von Herzinfarkt, Schlaganfall und Demenz; german for: Nutrition, Lifestyle and Individual Information for the Prevention of Heart Attack, Stroke and Dementia) data on cardiovascular risk factors, cognitive function and quality of life are prospectively collected, which will be improved through targeted individual information. The aim is to improve the health of the participants and identify the reasons for the lack of implementation. Methods: Risk factors of 4602 participants were linked to (controlled) hypertension and mi...

Prognostic value of the H2FPEF score in patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation
ConclusionsThe H2FPEF score serves as an independent predictor of adverse CV and heart failure outcome among TAVI patients with preserved EF. A high H2FPEF score is associated with the presence of paradoxical low ‐flow, low‐gradient AS, the HFpEF in patients with AS. By identifying patients in advanced stages of HFpEF, the H2FPEF score might be useful as a risk prediction tool in patients with preserved EF scheduled for TAVI.

Complications of left ventricular assist devices causing high urgency status on waiting list: impact on outcome after heart transplantation
ConclusionsLeft ventricular assist device therapy can impair the outcome after HTx. However, the occurrence of LVAD complications may not impact on outcome after HTx. Thus, we cannot support the prioritization or discrimination of HTx candidates according to distinct mechanical circulatory support ‐associated complications. Future allocation strategies have to respect that device‐related complications may define urgency but do not impact on the outcome after HTx.

Catheter ablation of supraventricular tachycardia in patients with and without structural heart disease: insights from the German ablation registry
ConclusionPatients with and without SHD undergoing SVT ablation exhibit similar success rates and low major complication rates, despite disadvantageous baseline characteristics in SHD patients. These data highlight the safety and efficacy of SVT ablation in patients with and without SHD. Nevertheless Kaplan –Meier mortality estimates at 1 year demonstrate a significant mortality increase in patients with SHD, highlighting the importance of treating the underlying condition and reliable anticoagulation if indicated.

Assessment of Arterial Stiffness, Brachial Haemodynamics, and Central Haemodynamics in Diabetic Hypertensives: A Pulse Wave Analysis-Based Case-Control Study from an Urban Area of West India
Conclusion: Diabetic hypertensives had adverse profile of cardiovascular parameters beyond bBP, related to female gender, and HTN and its control, more than that of diabetes. This baseline work suggests further study on these potential parameters.Pulse
