Evident lower blood levels of multiple nutritional compounds and highly prevalent malnutrition in sub-acute stroke patients with or without dysphagia
This study shows that malnutrition is highly prevalent in sub-acute stroke patients during rehabilitation. Even though patients with OD were more likely to be malnourished, blood levels of specific nutritional compounds were similarly lower in stroke patients with or without OD compared to healthy reference subjects. Furthermore, subgroup analysis showed similarly lower blood levels of specific nutritional compounds in patients that are normal nourished vs. patients with (risk of) malnutrition. Data lake-driven analytics identify nocturnal non-dipping of heart rate as predictor of unfavorable stroke outcome at discharge
ConclusionsOur data suggest that a lack of circadian HR modulation, specifically nocturnal non-dipping, is associated with short-term unfavorable functional outcome after stroke, and that including HR into machine learning-based prediction models may lead to improved stroke outcome prediction.

Stroke Admissions, Stroke Severity, and Treatment Rates in Urban and Rural Areas During the COVID-19 Pandemic
Conclusions: During the early pandemic, deviations of stroke-related admissions from historical averages were observed in both urban and rural regions of Northeastern Germany and appear to have been mainly driven by avoidance of admissions of mildly affected stroke patients.

This study aims to analyze the performance of the current design of stroke care networks in Bavaria, Germany, and to evaluate the improvement potential when the networks are redesigned to minimize travel distances. The structured ambulatory post-stroke care program for outpatient aftercare in patients with ischaemic stroke in Germany (SANO): an open-label, cluster-randomised controlled trial
This study was registered with the German Clinical Trials Register, DRKS00015322.FINDINGS: Between Jan 1, 2019 and Dec 22, 2020, 36 clusters were assessed for eligibility, of which 30 were randomly assigned to the intervention group (n=15 clusters) or control group (n=15 clusters). Juvenile Stroke.
CONCLUSION: The high rates of cryptogenic stroke and ESUS among patients with juvenile stroke indicate that uncertainties remain in the diagnosis and treatment of this entity. The identification of rare causes of juvenile stroke requires a major diagnostic effort. Which diagnostic tests are useful or necessary in which patients is a matter that is currently decided on an individual basis. This is true, above all, of the indication for long-term cardiac monitoring.

Conclusion: Our results help to plan resources in thrombectomy-capable centers in times of expanding indications for EVT where resources will have to be adjusted to patients with low-NIHSS, low-ASPECTS, and distal occlusions, and patients presenting in the extended time window, which may altogether account for an additional 20% of all ischemic stroke patients.
