Impact of pre-transplant dialysis modality on kidney transplant outcomes: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Communicative and critical health literacy, and self-management behaviors in end-stage renal disease patients with diabetes on hemodialysis
Conclusion: Communicative and critical HL skills are associated with self-management in ESRD patients with diabetes. Education levels are not related to self-management.Practice implications: Healthcare professionals and health information aiming to improve self-management in ESRD patients with diabetes should consider their capacities of communicative and critical HL instead of solely assessing functional HL.

Effectiveness of a Nutrition Education Program for the Prevention and Treatment of Malnutrition in End-Stage Renal Disease
This study was a longitudinal, 4-month prospective study.Settings: The study was conducted from January to May 2012 in the Hemodialysis Fresenius Medical Care Clinic of Murcia.Subjects: One hundred twenty patients with ESRD undergoing hemodialysis were randomly assigned to a NEP or to OS.Intervention: Patients assigned to the NEP group followed an educational program for 4 months that aimed to improve general nutritional knowledge and included culinary recommendations and an elaboration of balanced menus. Prevalence of Arterial Stiffness and Associated Factors in Thai Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease and Kidney Transplant Recipients.
Conclusion: Arterial stiffness was markedly raised in all groups of CKD patients with an overall prevalence of 56%. The highest prevalence of arterial stiffness was found in ESRD patients treated with HD and CAPD. It was shown that the associated factors that independently increased arterial stiffness were HD patients, KT recipients, older age and higher central MAP. PMID: 29927191 [PubMed - in process]
