A multi-modality medical imaging head and neck phantom: Part 2. Medical imaging
In a corresponding previous paper, we discussed the construction of a multi-modality medical imaging head and neck phantom that can be applied across different medical imaging modalities. The composition of the different tissue compartments was optimized to emulate the imaging contrast of different tissues and to allow perfusion studies with both MRI and PET. In this part we show some preliminary results with the different medical imaging modalities.

Topical medical therapy and ocular perfusion pressure in open angle glaucoma: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
CONCLUSIONS: We identified low to moderate quality evidence describing post intervention mean ocular perfusion pressure in open angle glaucoma. Bimatoprost increases mean ocular perfusion pressure when compared to timolol. As a class, prostaglandins increase mean ocular perfusion pressure. Prostaglandins may provide beneficial ocular perfusion pressure profiles compared to alternative agents. PMID: 30880485 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Endovascular treatment of a hepatic artery pseudoaneurysm using a novel pericardium covered stent
We describe the endovascular treatment of a patient with a hepatic artery pseudoaneurysm, where parent artery sacrifice was considered unacceptable. The AneuGraft PCS was used to provide immediate and complete exclusion, with dual antiplatelet therapy for 1 week, follo wed by single antiplatelet use. The procedure was a technical success, with preservation of the hepatic arteries and complete exclusion of the pseudoaneurysm. There were no complications immediately following the procedure or on post‐procedural follow‐up. The pseudoaneurysm remained excluded at 6‐week CT angiogram (CTA) follow‐up. This case describe...

Retrospective single ‐centre experience on the effect of the DAWN trial on the utilisation pattern, diagnostic yield and accuracy of CT perfusions performed for suspected acute stroke
ConclusionsThe CTP utilisation, particularly in late presenters, has substantially increased since the DAWN trial. This contributes to increasing burden on healthcare services related to the diagnosis and management of stroke.

Impact of Nuclear Laboratory Personnel Credentials & Continuing Education on Nuclear Cardiology Laboratory Quality Operations.
Conclusion: Nuclear cardiology laboratories directed by CBNC-certified physicians and NCT- or PET-credentialed technologists were less likely to receive delay decisions for MPI. CME/CE compliance of both the medical and technical directors was associated with accreditation decision. Medical and technical directors' years of experience were not associated with accreditation decision. PMID: 29273701 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

COVID-19 safety: aerosol-generating procedures and cardiothoracic surgery and anaesthesia - Australian and New Zealand consensus statement.
Authors: Irons JF, Pavey W, Bennetts JS, Granger E, Tutungi E, Almeida A Abstract INTRODUCTION: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a contagious disease that is caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Health care workers are at risk of infection from aerosolisation of respiratory secretions, droplet and contact spread. There are a number of procedures that represent a high risk of aerosol generation during cardiothoracic surgery. It is important that adequate training, equipment and procedures are in place to reduce that risk. RECOMMENDATIONS: We provide a number of key re...

Resident Education in the time of the COVID-19 Pandemic
Conclusions: The feedback from the residents has been positive especially with the utilization of Zoom, continuing in person readouts at our main hospital site and onsite teaching. Currently, the Radiology department is in process to obtain cameras for the PACS such that residents, especially the more junior who may not be as familiar with the faculty, will have an enhanced interactive experience more akin to traditional in person readouts. Nuclear medicine presents a weekly lecture series that is given via Zoom and depending on the location of the presenting attending, the presentations are sometimes given in the traditio...

Brachial artery blood flow by vascular ultrasound in education
Adv Physiol Educ. 2022 Jul 7. doi: 10.1152/advan.00157.2021. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThere is extensive and increasing use of ultrasound in medical care and scientific research, so it is important that the technique, indication, and interpretation of ultrasound investigations are included in medical and biological education. Applications of ultrasound in medical care and education employ not only non-invasive imaging of structure but also the evaluation of organ function. Vascular ultrasound is one such application which has been hitherto relatively neglected in physiology education. The techniques of vascular ultras...
