We have read with great interest the two editorials by Burdorf et al: “The COVID-19 pandemic: one year later – an occupational perspective” (1) and “The COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic: consequences for occupational health” (2). The authors highlight the importance of the societal consequences of the outbreak and changes in the world of work to manage occupa tional health. The key points identified – such as individual socioeconomic factors, psychological effects and occupations with highest risk of contamination – modify return-to-work approaches.

Why Wearing a Face Mask Is Encouraged in Asia, but Shunned in the U.S.
Cheryl Man is usually the only one wearing a face mask on her New York City subway train. She notices this, but other people on the train notice, too. Usually she just gets odd stares from other commuters. But on Tuesday morning, when she was walking to school, a group of teens jeered at her and coughed in her direction.
“I felt very humiliated and misunderstood,” says Man, a 20-year-old student and research assistant who is ethnically Chinese.
Man also feels the stigma at her workplace, where she keeps her mask on. None of her colleagues wear a face mask, and some of them have asked her if she is sick.

Insights Into Dolphins' Immunology: Immuno-Phenotypic Study on Mediterranean and Atlantic Stranded Cetaceans
This study was aimed at implementing the knowledge on the immune response in cetaceans stranded along the Italian coastline to provide a baseline useful for assessing the immune status of bottlenose (Tursiops truncatus) and striped (Stenella coeruleoalba) dolphins. In particular, since the Mediterranean Sea is considered a heavily polluted basin, a comparison with animals living in open waters such as the Atlantic Ocean was made.
