Factors affecting response to medical management in patients of filarial chyluria: A prospective study
Conclusion: Conservative management has a success rate in excess of 70%, not affected by the disease chronicity, previous episodes and recurrent nature. However, higher-grade disease, extensive pre-treatment with drugs and higher urinary cholesterol loss at baseline are the predictors of poor response. Hematuria is not an independent poor risk factor for conservative management.

Renal hydatid cyst: medical treatment.
DISCUSSION: Even though the recommended treatment is surgical excision, studies have demonstrated that medical treatment may be an alternative allowing for organ preservation. PMID: 27049373 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Challenges of hemodialysis in Vietnam: experience from the first standardized district dialysis unit in Ho Chi Minh City
Conclusion: Health services need to provide safe practice for dialyzer reuse given the endemicity of hepatitis. We believe a national survey similar to ours about seroprevalence and infection control challenges would prepare Vietnam for providing safer satellite treatment units. Safe hemodialysis services should also comprise patient preparedness, education and counseling.

Risk factors for Gleason score upgrading following radical prostatectomy: a review of the current literature.
CONCLUSIONS: The various studies found that Gleason score upgrading remains highly prevalent, and that some association can be seen with greater percent positive cores, longer biopsy core lengths, smaller prostate glands, higher percent tumour volume per gland, PSA density and visible lesions on mp-MRI. Searching urinary tumor-associated proteins for bladder transitional cell carcinoma in southwestern Taiwan using gel-based proteomics
Conclusion In this paper, 11 de-regulated proteins were observed in the urinary specimens of BTTC patients from the southwestern coast of Taiwan where Blackfoot disease is endemic and the unusually high incidence of BTTC in this area might attribute to high arsenic content in the drinking water. It is possible that long-term arsenic-induced alteration of these de-regulated proteins, most of which were extracellularmatrix – (ECM) related proteins which may play roles in regulating the immune response, signal transduction and tumor invasions, might be involved in BTTC development in southwestern Taiwan.

CKD of Uncertain Etiology: A Systematic Review.
CONCLUSIONS: Studies examining etiologies of CKDu have reported many exposures that are heterogeneous and vary by region. To identify etiologies of CKDu, designing consistent and comparative multisite studies across high-risk populations may help elucidate the importance of region-specific versus global risk factors. The effectiveness of targeted relative to empiric prophylaxis on infectious complications after transrectal ultrasound-guided prostate biopsy: a meta-analysis
ConclusionsRectal culture prior to TRUSPB and use of TAP adjusts for endemic FQ resistance and is associated with less infectious complications and resulting morbidity when compared to EAP. Overtreatment associated with augmented prophylaxis approaches may be reduced as a result. Further prospective assessment and cost –benefit analyses are required before widespread implementation can be recommended.

Testicular schistosomiasis: a systematic review of the literature
CONCLUSIONS: This systematic review of individual patient data reveals that while urine tests and imaging may aid in diagnosis, all patients require definitive histologic diagnosis. It is important to obtain a thorough history to elucidate exposure to endemic areas and inform whether biopsy, and subsequent testicular preservation, may be appropriate.PMID:36495578
