The Registered Dietitian as the Food Allergy Educator for the 6- to 12-Grade Kitchen Staff
Staff education is necessary to prevent severe allergic reactions and respond to food allergy emergencies in schools. In particular, cafeteria staff and kitchen employees need to learn how to minimize known allergens and to recognize the signs of anaphylaxis, a severe allergic reaction that needs to be treated promptly with epinephrine to prevent a possible fatality. As a food expert, the registered dietitian is the knowledgeable professional to provide this training. Leaving home: Helping teens with allergic conditions become independent
Adolescents with allergic conditions, such as food allergy, asthma, and allergic rhinitis, face unique challenges when transitioning to independent living away from home. For most teenagers, enrollment in college marks their first time living independently. In addition to moving to a new residence, college students must learn to manage their own schedule, diet, exercise, and health. Preparation for elements specific to their chronic medical conditions may be neglected because of multiple other demands on their attention and time during this monumental period in their lives.

Associations of TNFα -308G>A, TNFα -238G>A, IL-1α -889C>T and IL-10 -1082G>A Genetic Polymorphisms with Atopic Diseases: Asthma, Rhinitis and Dermatitis
Conclusions: The results indicate a protective role of TNFα -308G>A genetic polymorphisms regarding atopic dermatitis and skin symptoms even after controlling for personal, lifestyle and environmental factors. Mould and grass pollen allergy as risk factors for childhood asthma in Zaragoza, Spain.
CONCLUSION: The following are predictors of asthma: History of hospital admissions for lower respiratory tract illness, presence of rhinitis and/or eczema, positive prick test for certain aeroallergens, especially Alternaria and grass pollen, and family history of asthma. Developing, Implementing, and Evaluating a School-Centered Asthma Program: Step-Up Asthma Program
Conclusions A guideline-based school-centered asthma program can significantly reduce asthma morbidity. The asthma counselor is the cornerstone of the program, providing asthma education and care coordination. The Step-Up Asthma Program is in its 10th year, and we believe the key elements of this program can be implemented in other school systems.

Allergy and immunology practice parameters and guidelines
It's spring break, and you're seeing a college student who has a history of moderate-to-severe spring and summer rhinoconjunctivitis. Skin testing shows remarkable wheal and flare reactions to tree and grass pollens. In addition to recommending aeroallergen avoidance measures, which initial treatment has the highest likelihood of helping this patient: intranasal corticosteroid monotherapy or intranasal corticosteroid combined with intranasal antihistamine? Previous practice parameters tended to outline treatments with good evidence of effectiveness, but they rarely provided specific recommendations for these types of questions.

The transition from adolescence to young adulthood marks a developmental period in which responsibility for management of chronic conditions such as food allergy shifts from the caregiver to the young adult. Fatal food-induced anaphylaxis is most common among adolescents and young adults. However, colleges are currently not well positioned to provide integrated support for students with food allergies.

An Analysis of Skin Prick Tests to Latex and Patch Tests to Rubber Additives and other Causative Factors among Dental Professionals and Students with Contact Dermatoses

Highly multiplexed proteomic analysis reveals significant tissue and exosomal coagulation pathway derangement in chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps.
CONCLUSION: Our proteomic analysis confirmed that the coagulation pathway is highly significantly deranged within nasal polyp tissue. The correlation between tissue- and mucus-derived exosomal fibrinolysis and coagulation protein alterations were strong, inverse, and highly significant.
