Cost-effectiveness of dabigatran compared with rivaroxaban for prevention of stroke and systemic embolism in patients with atrial fibrillation in China.
Abstract PURPOSE: In China, dabigatran and rivaroxaban are the only approved non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants for the treatment of atrial fibrillation (AF). The goal of this article was to assess the cost-effectiveness of dabigatran versus rivaroxaban for the prevention of stroke and systemic embolism in Chinese patients with AF from the perspective of the Chinese health care system. METHODS: A Markov model was constructed to estimate the cost-effectiveness of dabigatran versus rivaroxaban. Clinical events were modeled for a lifetime horizon, based on clinical efficacy data from indirect treatment...

Temporal trends of atrial fibrillation and/or rheumatic heart disease-related ischemic stroke, and anticoagulant use in Chinese population: An 8-year study
Underuse of anticoagulants in ischemic stroke patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) and/or rheumatic heart disease (RHD) is a global concern, especially in China. However, the extent to which anticoagulants are underused in AF and/or RHD-related ischemic stroke in China has not been well characterized. We aimed to explore the temporal trends of AF and/or RHD-related ischemic stroke patients, anticoagulation use and factors related to suboptimal use of anticoagulants in a Chinese population.

Patients with acute myocardial infarction and atrial fibrillation: association of anemia with risk of in-hospital bleeding, stroke and other death causes.
Conclusions: In the Chinese in-hospital AMI and AF cohort, anemia was shown to be associated with increased risk of any bleeding, minor bleeding, gastrointestinal bleeding and other death causes, but not the risk of stroke or/and SE. Trial Registration Not applicable. PMID: 33411568 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

A simple score to predict atherosclerotic or embolic intracranial large-vessel occlusion stroke before endovascular treatment
CONCLUSIONS: The atrial fibrillation-blood pressure-clinical neurological deficit-computed tomography hyperdense sign-diabetes mellitus (ABC2D) score can be used to identify atherosclerotic or embolic etiology of patients with ILVOS who require emergency endovascular treatment.PMID:35303701 | DOI:10.3171/2022.1.JNS212924

Effect of prior anticoagulation therapy on stroke severity and in-hospital outcomes in patients with acute ischemic stroke and atrial fibrillation
We aimed to assess the prevalence of prior anticoagulation therapy (warfarin or non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants [NOACs]) among patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) and atrial fibrillation (AF) in China and investigate the associations between prior anticoagulation therapy and initial stroke severity and in-hospital outcomes.

Comparing the economic burden of ischemic stroke patients with and without atrial fibrillation: a retrospective study in Beijing, China.
CONCLUSIONS: AF increased the use of healthcare resources, treatment cost, and economic burden in patients with IS. Therefore, prevention of cardio-embolic events patients with AF by anticoagulants may decrease the economic burden in patients with IS. PMID: 28657348 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Integrated Machine Learning Approaches for Predicting Ischemic Stroke and Thromboembolism in Atrial Fibrillation.
In this study, we used integrated machine learning and data mining approaches to build 2-year TE prediction models for AF from Chinese Atrial Fibrillation Registry data. We first performed data cleansing and imputation on the raw data to generate available dataset. Then a series of feature construction and selection methods were used to identify predictive risk factors, based on which supervised learning methods were applied to build the prediction models. The experimental results show that our approach can achieve higher prediction performance (AUC: 0.71~0.74) than previous TE prediction models for AF (AUC: 0.66~0.69), an...

Atrial fibrillation is not uncommon among patients with ischemic stroke and transient ischemic stroke in China
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is reported to be a less frequent cause of ischemic stroke in China than in Europe and North America, but it is not clear whether this is due to underestimation. Our aim was to define ...
