Plasma Protein Profile of Carotid Artery Atherosclerosis and Atherosclerotic Outcomes: Meta-Analyses and Mendelian Randomization Analyses
CONCLUSIONS: The present meta-analysis discovered several proteins related to carotid atherosclerosis that partly differed in their association with IMT-CCA, plaque, and incident atherosclerotic disease. Mendelian randomization analysis for the top finding, MMP-12, suggests that the increased levels of MMP-12 could be a consequence of atherosclerotic burden rather than the opposite chain of events.PMID:33657885 | DOI:10.1161/ATVBAHA.120.315597

Glycine attenuates cerebrovascular remodeling via glycine receptor alpha 2 and vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 after stroke.
The objective of this study was to determine the mechanism of action of GlyRa2 in cerebrovascular remodeling. After induction of rat tMCAO, levels of the GLRA2 gene and GlyRa2 protein were examined using q-PCR, western blot, and immunohistochemical analyses. Blood-brain barrier permeability, and the presence of hemorrhage and arteriosclerosis were also analyzed. Endogenous THBD (Thrombomodulin) Mediates Angiogenesis in the Ischemic Brain.
CONCLUSIONS: Endogenous THBD acts as a protective factor in the brain during ischemic stroke and enhances vessel diameter and proliferation. Paraoxonase-1 and other factors related to oxidative stress in psoriasis.
Conclusions: Psoriasis promotes arteriosclerosis development by decreasing the levels of antiatherogenic and increasing the levels of proatherogenic agents. Adverse changes in psoriatic patients involve activity of paraoxonase-1, levels of α-tocopherol, uric acid, homocysteine as compared to healthy individuals selected by their age, BMI and abdominal circumference value. Abstract Prostanoids are a group of bioactive lipids that are synthesized de novo from membrane phospholipid-released arachidonic acid and have diverse functions in normal physiology and disease. NSAIDs, which are among the most commonly used medications, ameliorate pain, fever, and inflammation by inhibiting COX (cyclooxygenase), which is the rate-limiting enzyme in the biosynthetic cascade of prostanoids. Serum cystatin C is associated with carotid atherosclerosis in patients with acute ischemic stroke
ConclusionsHigher cystatin C levels were strongly correlated with symptomatic CCA stenosis and the rate of unstable plaques. Analysis of cystatin C levels may be useful for the identification of CCA stenosis and extracranial ICA in patients with AIS.

CONCLUSION: The effects of DHA and EPA on vascular endothelial cell damage and dysfunction may involve the induction of nitric oxide, in addition to antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. n-3 fatty acids inhibit endothelial dysfunction and prevent arteriosclerosis.
