Prestroke Aspirin Use is Associated with Clinical Outcomes in Ischemic Stroke Patients with Atherothrombosis, Small Artery Disease, and Cardioembolic Stroke.

Atrial Septal Aneurysm may Cause In-Hospital Recurrence of Cryptogenic Stroke.
CONCLUSIONS: The CHALLENGE ESUS/CS registry indicated that ASA was not rare in cryptogenic stroke, and ASA's clinical characteristics included higher age, reduced frequency of diabetes mellitus, and increased frequency of concomitant right-to-left shunt. Comparative assessment of published atrial fibrillation stroke risk stratification schemes for predicting stroke, in a non-atrial fibrillation population: The Chin-Shan Community Cohort Study
Conclusion: Contemporary stroke risk stratification schema used for AF can also be applied to non-AF populations with a similar (modest) predictive value. Given their simplicity (e.g. CHADS2 score), these scores could potentially be used for a ‘quick’ evaluation of stroke risk in non-AF populations, in a similar manner to AF populations.

Electrocardiographic left atrial abnormalities and risk of incident stroke in hypertensive patients with electrocardiographic left ventricular hypertrophy
Conclusion: Abnormal PTFV1, a marker of left atrial abnormality, was strongly associated with incident stroke in hypertensive patients, independent of in-treatment SBP and other predictors of incident stroke. This association, in the absence of detectable atrial fibrillation, suggests that an underlying atrial cardiopathy may cause left atrial thrombus formation and a subsequent stroke without intervening clinically recognized atrial fibrillation.

Risk Factors for Stroke among Young-Old and Old-Old Community-Dwelling Adults in Japan: the Ohasama Study.
CONCLUSION: Those with hypertension had significantly higher stroke risk among old people, while diabetes mellitus was differentially associated with stroke according to age category. Recurrent Stroke Incidence and Etiology in Patients with Embolic Stroke of Undetermined Source and Other Stroke Subtypes.
CONCLUSIONS: Although the risk of recurrence was comparable between patients with ESUS and CE and intermediate between patients with LAA and SVD, in the acute admission unit, the risk in outpatients was similar among all subtypes. Stroke-Specific Predictors of Major Bleeding in Anticoagulated Patients With Stroke and Atrial Fibrillation: A Nationwide Multicenter Registry-Based Study
CONCLUSIONS: This study found that major bleeding risk was independently associated with stroke-specific factors in anticoagulated patients with stroke and AF. Lipid Accumulation Product and Hypertension Related to Stroke: a 9.2-Year Prospective Study Among Mongolians in China.
CONCLUSIONS: The present study showed that high LAP was associated with an increased risk of future stroke, and hypertensives with high LAP had the highest risk of stroke among Inner Mongolians.
