Incidence of Poststroke Depression in Patients With Poststroke Dysphagia
CONCLUSIONS: Our results demonstrated that persons with poststroke dysphagia were as, or slightly more, likely to have PSD compared to the general stroke population, and to our knowledge, they establish the first reported incidence of PSD in Medicare patients with dysphagia after AIS. Future research is warranted to further explore the effects of PSD on poststroke dysphagia.PMID:35858266 | DOI:10.1044/2022_AJSLP-21-00346

US Hospital Webpages on Atrial Fibrillation Ablation: A Potential Source for Misinformation
ConclusionUS hospital webpages rarely discuss AF ablation. When discussed, there were concerning unsubstantiated claims regarding mortality, stroke prevention, and need for medical therapy. This could lead to some patients undergoing AF ablation based on faulty understanding. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.

Cost-Effectiveness of Catheter Ablation Versus Antiarrhythmic Drug Therapy in Atrial Fibrillation: The CABANA Randomized Clinical Trial
CONCLUSION: Catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation was economically attractive compared with drug therapy in the CABANA Trial overall at present benchmarks for health care value in the United States on the basis of projected incremental QALYs but not LYs alone.PMID:35726631 | DOI:10.1161/CIRCULATIONAHA.122.058575

Bounce-Back: Predicting Acute Readmission From Inpatient Rehabilitation for Patients With Stroke
Conclusions Results suggest that certain demographic, medical, and functional characteristics are associated differentially with rehospitalization after completion inpatient rehabilitation. The strongest model was the discharge to the acute hospital model with concordance statistic (c-statistic) of 0.87.

Cardiovascular Outcomes in Patients Initiating First-Line Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes With Sodium-Glucose Cotransporter-2 Inhibitors Versus Metformin : A Cohort Study
CONCLUSION: As first-line T2D treatment, initiators receiving SGLT-2i showed a similar risk for MI/stroke/mortality, lower risk for HHF/mortality and HHF, and a similar safety profile except for an increased risk for genital infections compared with those receiving metformin.PRIMARY FUNDING SOURCE: Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School.PMID:35605236 | DOI:10.7326/M21-4012
