Fecal microbiota transplantation treatment for refractory ulcerative colitis with allergy to 5-aminosalicylic acid: A case report
Conclusion: The choice of treatment for refractory UC patients who are allergic to 5-ASA is relatively limited. In our case, we highlight the specific role of FMT for refractory UC with absence of 5-ASA through intestinal microbiota reconstruction.

Hereditary Angioedema with Normal C1 Inhibitor and F12 Mutations in 42 Brazilian Families
ConclusionsOur study included a large number of patients with FXII-HAE, and, as the first such study conducted in a South American population, it highlighted significant differences between this and other study populations. The high number of symptomatic males and patients with estrogen-independent FXII-HAE found here suggests that male sex and the absence of a hormonal influence should not discourage clinicians from searching for F12 mutations in cases of HAE with normal C1-INH.

Allergy to Surgical Implants
AbstractSurgical implants are essential elements of repair procedures to correct worn out joints, damaged spinal components, heart and vascular disease, and chronic pain. However, many of the materials that provide stability, flexibility, and durability to the implants are also immunogenic. Fortunately, allergic responses to surgical implants are infrequent. When they do occur, however, the associated pain, swelling, inflammation, and decreased range of motion can significantly impair the implant function. Given the high numbers of joint replacements performed in the developed world, allergic reactions to orthopedic implan...

Clinical impact of reported non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug allergy on opioid use disorder in patients with osteoarthritis or low back pain
Length and quantity of opioid prescriptions are associated with opioid use disorder (OUD) and increased overdose risk. The use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) for first-line treatment of chronic pain is limited by adverse drug reactions (ADRs), the majority of which do not represent true hypersensitivity. The relationships between reported NSAID ADRs, analgesic utilization patterns and OUD are underexplored.

Common Infections and Target Organs Associated with Chronic Granulomatous Disease in Iran
Recurrent severe bacterial and fungal infections are characteristic features of the rare genetic immunodeficiency disorder chronic granulomatous disease (CGD). The disease usually manifests within the first years of life with an incidence of 1 in approximately 200,000 live births. The incidence is higher in Iran and Morocco where it reaches 1.5 per 100,000 live births. Mutations have been described in the 5 subunits of NADPH oxidase, mostly in gp91phox and p47phox, with fewer mutations reported in p67phox, p22phox, and p40phox. These mutations cause loss of superoxide production in phagocytic cells.CYBB, the gene encoding ...
