Headache and systemic lupus erythematosus: A narrative review
CONCLUSIONS: Headache is a frequent symptom in patients with SLE. An appropriate approach enables the potentially serious conditions, which are the causes of secondary headaches, to be recognized and treated, together with an appropriate diagnosis and treatment of primary headaches.PMID:37036168 | DOI:10.1111/head.14501

Comparison of Prasugrel and Clopidogrel in Thrombotic Stroke Patients with Risk Factors for Ischemic Stroke Recurrence: An Integrated Analysis of PRASTRO-I, PRASTRO-II, and PRASTRO-III
Conclusions: This integrated analysis supports the findings of PRASTRO-III. Prasugrel is a promising treatment that results in a numerical reduction in the composite incidence of ischemic stroke, MI, and death from other vascular causes in patients with ischemic stroke who are at a high risk of stroke recurrence. No major safety issues were observed for prasugrel.Cerebrovasc Dis

Proximity to noise sources, socio-economic characteristics and diagnosis of high blood pressure among urban dwellers in ibadan, nigeria
High blood pressure (BP) is a risk factor for cardiovascular diseases and death. Studies have identified relationship between noise and high BP, although, limited literature exist on the effects of proximity to healthcare, pharmaceutical shops, bus stops, churches, and mosques on high BP. We investigated the relationship between proximity to noise sources, socioeconomic, demographic factors and diagnosed high BP in Ibadan, Nigeria.

Risk factors for intracerebral hemorrhage in patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis
ConclusionHigher systolic BP and abnormal iPTH metabolism might be associated with ICH in patients undergoing hemodialysis. Comprehensive control of hypertension and iPTH may be a fundamental preventive strategy for ICH in these patients.

Characteristics of stroke after liver and kidney transplantation
ConclusionsIn-hospital, perioperative, and hemorrhagic strokes were more common in the LT group than in the KT group. Ischemic stroke subtypes did not differ significantly between the two groups and undetermined etiology was the most common cause of ischemic stroke in both groups. High mortality after stroke was noted in transplantation patients and was associated with in-hospital stroke.

Cerebral Arterial Stiffness as Measured Based on the Pulse Wave Velocity is Associated With Intracranial Artery Calcification in Patients With Acute Stroke
CONCLUSIONS: We found that in patients with acute ischemic stroke, ccPWV was positively related to the degree of IAC. Future longitudinal cohort studies may help to identify the potential role of IAC in the progression of cerebral arterial stiffness.PMID:36929059 | DOI:10.3988/jcn.2022.0209
