Activation of endogenous neurogenesis and angiogenesis by basic fibroblast growth factor-chitosan gel in an adult rat model of ischemic stroke
This study revealed the mechanism by which bioactive materials repair ischemic strokes, thus providing a new strategy for the clinical application of bioactive materials in the treatment of ischemic stroke.PMID:37488905 | DOI:10.4103/1673-5374.375344

Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors and angiotensin receptor blockers for adults with early (stage 1 to 3) non-diabetic chronic kidney disease
CONCLUSIONS: There is currently insufficient evidence to determine the effectiveness of ACEi or ARB in patients with stage 1 to 3 CKD who do not have DM. The available evidence is overall of very low certainty and high risk of bias. We have identified an area of large uncertainty for a group of patients who account for most of those diagnosed as having CKD.PMID:37466151 | DOI:10.1002/14651858.CD007751.pub3

Efficacy of redox nanoparticles for improving survival of transplanted cells in a mouse model of ischemic stroke
In this study, we tested the protective efficacy of these redox nanoparticles in cell culture and a mouse model of ischemic stroke. Induced human dental pulp stem cells were subjected to oxygen –glucose deprivation and reoxygenation to recapitulate ischemia and reperfusion in the penumbra surrounding a cerebral infarct. Cell viability using WST-8 assay, apoptosis using TUNEL, free radicals using MitoSOX, and inflammatory cytokines using ELISA kit were measured in the presence and absence of redox nanoparticles after oxygen–glucose deprivation and reoxygenation. The scavenging activity of redox nanoparticles against rea...

MAGT1 Deficiency Dysregulates Platelet Cation Homeostasis and Accelerates Arterial Thrombosis and Ischemic Stroke in Mice
CONCLUSIONS: These results suggest that MAGT1 and TRPC6 are functionally linked. Therefore, deficiency or impaired functionality of MAGT1 could be a potential risk factor for arterial thrombosis and stroke.PMID:37381987 | DOI:10.1161/ATVBAHA.122.318115

GABAergic neurons differentiated from BDNF- and Dlx2-modified neural stem cells restore disrupted neural circuits in brainstem stroke
CONCLUSIONS: These findings demonstrated that BDNF- and Dlx2-modified NSCs differentiated into GABAergic neurons, integrated into and reconstituted the host neural networks, and alleviated the ischemic injury. It thus provided a potential therapeutic strategy for brainstem stroke.PMID:37365654 | DOI:10.1186/s13287-023-03378-5

Therapeutic Efficacy and Migration of Mesenchymal Stem Cells after Intracerebral Transplantation in Rats with Experimental Ischemic Stroke
We studied therapeutic efficacy and migration characteristics of mesenchymal stem cells isolated from the human placenta after their intracerebral (stereotactic) administration to rats with the experimental ischemic stroke. It was shown that cell therapy significantly improved animal survival rate and reduced the severity of neurological deficit. New data on the migration pathways of transplanted cells in the brain were obtained.

Deficiency of adenosine deaminase 2 (DADA2): Review
Best Pract Res Clin Rheumatol. 2023 Jun 15:101844. doi: 10.1016/j.berh.2023.101844. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe deficiency of adenosine deaminase 2 (DADA2) is an autosomal recessive disease caused by loss-of-function (LOF) mutations in the ADA2 gene and was first described in 2014. Initially, it was described as vasculopathy/vasculitis that mostly affected infants and young children and closely resembled polyarteritis nodosa (PAN). Skin rash and ischemic/hemorrhagic stroke are predominant symptoms. However, the clinical spectrum of DADA2 has continued to expand since then. It has now been reported in adults as well. ...

A study of the correlation between stroke and gut microbiota over the last 20years: a bibliometric analysis
ConclusionFindings suggest that in the next 10 years, the number of publications produced annually may increase significantly. Future research trends tend to concentrate on the mechanisms of stroke and gut microbiota, with the inflammation and immunological mechanisms, TMAO, and fecal transplantation as hotspots. And the relationship between these mechanisms and a particular cardiovascular illness may also be a future research trend.

Outcomes of heart transplant recipients with prior left ventricular assist device associated stroke
Left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) improve survival in patients with end-stage heart failure but are associated with ischemic stroke and intracranial hemorrhage (ICH). The impact of LVAD-associated stroke on transplant candidacy and outcomes has not been characterized.
