Myocardial Infarction, Stroke, and All-Cause Mortality According to Low-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol Level in the Elderly, a Nationwide Study
CONCLUSION: Among the elderly, lower LDL-C was associated with decreased risks of MI and stroke. Lower LDL-C achieved by statins in the elderly was associated with a decreased risk of all-cause death during follow-up, suggesting that LDL-C paradox for the premature death risk in the elderly should not be applied to statin users. Incidence and mortality of myocardial infarction and stroke in patients with hyperthyroidism: A nationwide cohort study in Korea.
CONCLUSIONS: Hyperthyroidism is associated with increased risk of MI and ischemic stroke, independent of cardiovascular risk factors. This association is prominent in subjects with age ≥50 years, in females and in non-obese group. Hyperthyroidism did not significantly affect the mortality of cardiovascular events. Lower incidence of recorded cardiovascular outcomes in patients with type 2 diabetes using insulin aspart vs. those on human regular insulin: observational evidence from general practices
ConclusionUse of the rapid‐acting insulin analogue aspart was associated with a reduced incidence of macrovascular outcomes in type 2 diabetes in general practices. It is important to confirm this finding in a randomized controlled trial.
