LncRNA-GAS5 Inhibits Expression of miR 103 and Ameliorates the Articular Cartilage in Adjuvant-Induced Arthritis in Obese Mice.
Abstract We explored whether long noncoding RNA growth arrest-specific transcript 5 (LncRNA-GAS5) small interfering RNA (siRNA) reduced cartilage destruction in obese mice with adjuvant-induced arthritis. We studied the effects of LncRNA-GAS5 siRNA on the polyarthritis index; hind paw swelling; and the serum levels of certain biochemicals, cytokines, and oxidative stress parameters. We measured the expression levels of matrix metalloproteinases (MMP)-13, NF-κB, fibroblast growth factor (FGF) 21, p38, Akt, and PI3K in cartilage via Western blotting and quantitative reverse transcription PCR. Long noncoding RNA-GAS...

AMPK upregulates KCa2.3 channels and ameliorates endothelial dysfunction in diet-induced obese mice.
Abstract The opening of endothelial small-conductance calcium-activated potassium channels (KCa2.3) is essential for endothelium-dependent hyperpolarization (EDH), which predominantly occurs in small resistance arteries. Adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK), an important metabolic regulator, has been implicated in regulating endothelial nitric oxide synthase activity. However, it was unclear whether AMPK regulated endothelial KCa2.3-mediated EDH-type vasodilation. Using bioinformatics analysis and myograph system, we investigated the regulation by AMPK of KCa2.3 in human umbilical vein endotheli...

Resveratrol attenuates high fat diet-induced mouse cardiomyopathy through upregulation of estrogen related receptor- α.
Resveratrol attenuates high fat diet-induced mouse cardiomyopathy through upregulation of estrogen related receptor-α. Eur J Pharmacol. 2018 Oct 17;: Authors: Lu Y, Lu X, Wang L, Yang W Abstract Resveratrol reportedly promotes the improvement of cardiac dysfunction and other cardiovascular diseases. Studies demonstrate resveratrol exhibits a set of benefits, including anti-oxidative property, anti-apoptosis and anti-inflammation. However, the molecular mediators of resveratrol-induced cardiac benefits are still not fully disclosed. Present study aims to investigate whether estrogen-related receptor (...

FGF21, a member of the FGF family, plays important roles in the regulation of peripheral glucose tolerance and lipid metabolism and improves metabolic health. The mRNA expression and secretion of FGF21 was significantly weaker in Rora-silenced cells than in cells transf...

Connecting Metainflammation and Neuroinflammation Through the PTN-MK-RPTP β/ζ Axis: Relevance in Therapeutic Development
Conclusion The expression of the components of the PTN-MK-RPTPβ/ζ axis in immune cells and in inflammatory diseases suggests important roles for this axis in inflammation. Pleiotrophin has been recently identified as a limiting factor of metainflammation, a chronic pathological state that contributes to neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration. Pleiotrophin also seems to potentiate acute neuroinflammation independently of the inflammatory stimulus while MK seems to play different -even opposite- roles in acute neuroinflammation depending on the stimulus. Which are the functions of MK and PTN in chronic neuroi...
