Fixed dose combination therapies in primary cardiovascular disease prevention in different groups: an individual participant meta-analysis
Conclusions In participants with intermediate cardiovascular risk, FDCs produce larger cardiovascular benefits in older individuals, which appear greater with aspirin. Trial registration number HOPE-3, NCT00468923; TIPS-3, NCT016464137; PolyIran, NCT01271985.

Subannular repair in secondary mitral regurgitation with restricted leaflet motion during systole
Conclusions Our study demonstrates the safety and feasibility of standardised subannular repair to treat ventricular SMR (Carpentier type IIIb) in a multicentre setting. By addressing mitral leaflet tethering, papillary muscle relocation results in very satisfactory 1-year outcomes and has the potential to durably restore MV geometry; nevertheless, long-term FU is mandatory. Trial registration number NCT03470155.

Association Between Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Cardiovascular Events in Acute Coronary Syndrome Patients With or Without Revascularization - A Prospective Cohort Study
CONCLUSIONS: For patients with ACS, OSA was independently associated with higher risk of recurrent cardiovascular events among patients without revascularization but not among patients undergoing revascularization. The benefits of suitable OSA treatment for patients without revascularization need further investigation.PMID:37612051 | DOI:10.1253/circj.CJ-23-0164

Carotid Plaque Score for Stroke and Cardiovascular Risk Prediction in a Middle-Aged Cohort From the General Population
Conclusions The carotid plaque score is a strong predictor of ischemic stroke and major adverse cardiovascular events, and it provides incremental prognostic information to SCORE2 for risk prediction. A cutoff score of >3 seems to be suitable to discriminate high-risk subjects. Registration Information clinicaltrials.gov. Identifier: NCT01555411.PMID:37609981 | DOI:10.1161/JAHA.123.030739

Evaluation of Large-Scale Proteomics for Prediction of Cardiovascular Events
CONCLUSIONS AND RELEVANCE: A protein risk score was significantly associated with ASCVD events in primary and secondary event populations. When added to clinical risk factors, the protein risk score and polygenic risk score both provided statistically significant but modest improvement in discrimination.PMID:37606673 | DOI:10.1001/jama.2023.13258

Angiotensin Receptor –Neprilysin Inhibitor Effects on Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease Events: A Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials
Sacubitril-valsartan is an angiotensin receptor –neprilysin inhibitor (ARNI) associated with a decreased risk of death and hospitalization for selected patients with heart failure (HF). However, its association with improved atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) events remains unclear. We performed a meta-analysis to evaluate the assoc iation of ARNI with ASCVD events in patients with HF. We systematically searched PubMed, Embase, Cochrane, and ClinicalTrials.gov for studies comparing ARNIs with angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs) or angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) in terms of myocardial infarc...

Fractional Flow Reserve-Guided PCI or Coronary Bypass Surgery for 3-Vessel Coronary Artery Disease: 3-Year Follow-Up of the FAME 3 Trial
CONCLUSIONS: At 3-year follow-up, there was no difference in the incidence of the composite of death, MI, or stroke after FFR-guided PCI with current-generation drug-eluting stents compared with CABG. There was a higher incidence of MI after PCI compared with CABG, with no difference in death or stroke. These results provide contemporary data to allow improved shared decision-making between physicians and patients with 3-vessel coronary artery disease.REGISTRATION: URL: https://www.CLINICALTRIALS: gov; Unique identifier: NCT02100722.PMID:37602376 | DOI:10.1161/CIRCULATIONAHA.123.065770

Cardiac magnetic resonance left ventricular filling pressure is linked to symptoms, signs and prognosis in heart failure
ConclusionsRaised CMR-derived LVFP is strongly associated with symptoms and signs of HF. In addition, raised CMR-derived LVFP is independently associated with subsequent HF hospitalization and MACE.

Diagnostic ability of Japanese version of high bleeding risk criteria for ischemic outcomes in patients with acute myocardial infarction
AbstractThe Japanese version of high bleeding risk (J-HBR) criteria was domestically proposed to identify patients at HBR after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). The applicability of J-HBR on bleeding events has been validated, while whether J-HBR predicts ischemic events is uncertain. This bi-center registry included 904 patients with acute myocardial infarction (MI) undergoing primary PCI. Patients were stratified by the J-HBR major (1 point) and minor (0.5 point) criteria. Patients with J-HBR  ≥ 1 point were diagnosed as having HBR. The primary endpoint was major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE), a com...

Prognostic value of the liver fibrosis marker fibrosis-5 index in patients with severe isolated tricuspid regurgitation: comparison with fibrosis-4 index
AbstractThe fibrosis-4 index (FIB4), a liver fibrosis maker, has been shown to be associated with the prognosis in patients with severe isolated tricuspid regurgitation (TR). Recent study showed that the fibrosis-5 index (FIB5), which was calculated by albumin, alkaline phosphatase, aspartate transaminase, alanine aminotransferase and platelet count, had better prognostic value than FIB4 in patients with heart failure. The aim of this study was to evaluate the usefulness of FIB5 index for predicting prognosis in patients with severe isolated TR and compare the prognostic value between the FIB4 and the FIB5 in those patient...
