Major adverse cardiovascular and limb events in patients with diabetes treated with GLP-1 receptor agonists vs DPP-4 inhibitors
Conclusions/interpretationIn individuals with diabetes, the use of GLP1RAs was associated with significantly lower risks of major adverse limb events when compared with the use of DPP4is. The reduction in risk was driven largely by reduced rate of amputations. Moreover, treatment with GLP1RAs was also associated with lower risks of cardiovascular death, non-fatal stroke, non-fatal myocardial infarction and death from any cause. However, some unexplored confounding factors may exist in this observation study and future large-scale randomised controlled trials are needed.Graphical abstract

CONCLUSION: This retrospective analysis of claims data has provided hints of an association between the COVID-19 pandemic and increased in hospital mortality in patients with acute stroke. Furthermore, confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection was associated with increased mortality in patients with stroke, TIA, and ALI. ConclusionsRecently diagnosed type 2 diabetes patients showed increased risks of incident CVDs and premature mortality, and insulin ‐treated group demonstrated an additional increase in the risks of these outcomes in adults with recently diagnosed type 2 diabetes, suggesting the need for intensified cardio‐protective interventions for adults with insulin‐treated type 2 diabetes.

Metabolic Syndrome Severity Score for Predicting Cardiovascular Events: A Nationwide Population-Based Study from Korea.
Conclusion: The newly developed age- and sex-specific continuous MS score for the Korean population is an independent predictor of ischemic stroke and MI in Korean middle-aged adults even after adjusting for confounding factors.
