Efficacy of Acupuncture Treatment for Incidence of Poststroke Comorbidities: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Nationalized Cohort Studies
Evid Based Complement Alternat Med. 2022 Feb 1;2022:3919866. doi: 10.1155/2022/3919866. eCollection 2022.ABSTRACTAcupuncture has been applied as a complementary therapy in stroke survivors worldwide and approved to be beneficial to stroke recovery. However, there is little medical evidence regarding the association between acupuncture and the risk of poststroke comorbidities. We reviewed big data studies from the Taiwan National Health Insurance Research Database to investigate the risk of poststroke comorbidities after acupuncture treatment in a real-world situation. Predicting Hospital Readmissions from Health Insurance Claims Data: A Modeling Study Targeting Potentially Inappropriate Prescribing
CONCLUSION: PIP successfully predicted readmissions for most diseases, opening the possibility for interventions to improve these modifiable risk factors. Machine-learning methods appear promising for future modeling of PIP predictors in complex older patients with many underlying diseases.PMID:35144291 | DOI:10.1055/s-0042-1742671

Association between oral health and cardiovascular outcomes in patients with hypertension: a nationwide cohort study
Conclusion: Our study demonstrated that multiple dental caries were related to the risk of cardiovascular diseases in hypertensive patients. Better oral hygiene may attenuate the risk of cardiovascular events in hypertensive patients.

Assessment of the effects of methodological choice in continuity of care research: a real-world example with dyslipidaemia cohort
Conclusions The study design in continuity of care studies should be planned carefully because the results are sensitive to the temporal relationship between continuity and outcome and the population selection criteria.

Optimal target blood pressure for major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events in hypertensive patients: a nationwide population-based study
Conclusion: Even though this observational study did not support inference of a causal relationship, a SBP of 120–129 mmHg and a DBP of 80–89 mmHg may be safely recommended considering the possibility of MACCE in Korean patients with hypertension. In addition, the target BP should be tailored individually according to age, sex, and comorbidities.

Cancers, Vol. 13, Pages 6203: Acute and Long-Term Outcomes of ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction in Cancer Patients, a & lsquo;Real World & rsquo; Analysis with 175,000 Patients
Conclusion: In this large “real world” data, prognosis after STEMI in cancer patients was markedly reduced but differed widely between cancer types. Of note, no withholding of interventional treatments in cancer patients could be observed.

The Impact of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm on Cardiovascular Diseases
Int Heart J. 2021;62(6):1235-1240. doi: 10.1536/ihj.21-328.ABSTRACTCardiovascular diseases (CVDs) including myocardial infarction (MI) and stroke are often diagnosed in patients with abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). However, little has been reported regarding the incidence.Patients with AAA were selected from the National Health Insurance system in South Korea between 2009 and 2015. A total of 10,822 participants with a new diagnosis of AAA were included. Propensity score matching by age and sex with patients in whom AAA was not diagnosed was used to select the control group of 32,466 participants. Primary endpoints includ...
