Improved language function for post-stroke aphasia in the long term following repeated repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation and intensive speech-language-hearing therapy: a case report
ConclusionsThe findings of the study indicate that the repeated use of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation and intensive speech-language-hearing therapy may be effective in improving and preserving language function and increasing cerebral blood flow for aphasia following stroke.

Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor Genotype-Specific Differences in Cortical Activation in Chronic Aphasia.
Conclusion BDNF genotype mediates cortical brain activation in individuals with chronic aphasia. Correspondingly, individuals carrying the Met allele present with more severe aphasia compared to noncarriers. These findings warrant further study into the effects of BDNF genotype in aphasia. Wants Talk Psychotherapy but Cannot Talk: EMDR for Post-stroke Depression with Expressive Aphasia
CONCLUSION This is the first reported case demonstrating that EMDR can be effective for depression, even in those with severe expressive aphasia. In our case, there was no reluctance to disclose information, simply a neurological inability to do so. Through preparation, patience, perseverance, and plasticity (clinician flexibility, though perhaps also neuroplasticity), the patient’s PSD gradually improved, and she was able to reinvent her life within her limitations. Intensive therapy induces contralateral white matter changes in chronic stroke patients with Broca's aphasia.
Abstract Using a pre-post design, eleven chronic stroke patients with large left hemisphere lesions and nonfluent aphasia underwent diffusion tensor imaging and language testing before and after receiving 15weeks of an intensive intonation-based speech therapy.
