Major adverse cardiovascular and limb events in patients with diabetes treated with GLP-1 receptor agonists vs DPP-4 inhibitors
Conclusions/interpretationIn individuals with diabetes, the use of GLP1RAs was associated with significantly lower risks of major adverse limb events when compared with the use of DPP4is. The reduction in risk was driven largely by reduced rate of amputations. Moreover, treatment with GLP1RAs was also associated with lower risks of cardiovascular death, non-fatal stroke, non-fatal myocardial infarction and death from any cause. However, some unexplored confounding factors may exist in this observation study and future large-scale randomised controlled trials are needed.Graphical abstract

Pitavastatin Combined with Ezetimibe Treatment was an Effective Approach to Non-IRA Lesion of ST-segment Elevation Myocardial Infarc-tion Patients with Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention.
CONCLUSION: The results mentioned above suggested that pitavastatin combined with ezetimibe was an effective approach to STEMI patients with non-IRA disease undergoing primary PCI. Impact of Ezetimibe on the Rate of Cardiovascular-Related Hospitalizations and Associated Costs Among Patients With a Recent Acute Coronary Syndrome: Results From the IMPROVE-IT Trial (Improved Reduction of Outcomes: Vytorin Efficacy International Trial) Original Articles
Conclusions— Addition of ezetimibe to statin therapy in patients with a recent acute coronary syndrome leads to reductions in cardiovascular-related hospitalizations and associated costs, with the greatest cost offsets in high-risk patients. These cost reductions may completely offset the cost of the drug once ezetimibe becomes generic, and may lead to cost savings from the perspective of the healthcare system, if treatment with ezetimibe is targeted to high-risk patients. Incidence, Trends, and Predictors of Ischemic Stroke 1 Year After an Acute Myocardial Infarction Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— The risk of ischemic stroke within a year after myocardial infarction is substantial but has clearly been reduced during the studied time period. The major predictive factors found to correlate well with previous investigations. Reperfusion treatment, thrombocyte aggregation inhibition, and lipid lowering are the main contributors to the observed risk reduction.

Incidence, Trends, and Predictors of Ischemic Stroke 30 Days After an Acute Myocardial Infarction Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— The incidence of ischemic stroke within 30 days of an AMI has decreased during the period 1998 to 2008. This decrease is associated with increased use of acetylsalicylic acid, P2Y12 inhibitors, statins, and percutaneous coronary intervention.
