The Effect of Probiotics in Stroke Treatment
CONCLUSION: The probiotics combined with EN group's therapeutic effects were superior to those of the EN alone. Thus, probiotics combined with EN is worthy of both clinical application and promotion in stroke treatment.PMID:34745285 | PMC:PMC8568545 | DOI:10.1155/2021/4877311

The effect of acupuncture on enteral nutrition and gastrointestinal dynamics in patients who have suffered a severe stroke
CONCLUSION: Acupuncture improved the enteral nutrition status of patients who had suffered a severe stroke and promoted gastrointestinal motility. The combination of acupuncture and early enteral nutrition could reduce damage to the gastrointestinal mucosal barrier caused by stress, changes in metabolism, and improved gastrointestinal function.PMID:35996236 | DOI:10.2174/1567202619666220822123023

Controlling nutritional status score for predicting 3-mo functional outcome in acute ischemic stroke
Malnutrition has been reported to be an independent risk factor for morbidity and mortality in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) [1 –3]. The prevalence of malnutrition after AIS has been reported to range from 8% to 34% [3]. In addition, malnourished patients, at admission, had a higher frequency of pneumonia, other infections, gastrointestinal bleeding, and bedsores than nourished patients [1,3]. Nutritional management is the refore a non-pharmacologic approach toward improving patient outcomes.

Eating an Egg a Day May Keep Heart Disease Away, a New Study Says
Eggs have been a taboo food for decades, since they are high in cholesterol, but the latest science suggests that they might not be as unhealthy as once thought. In a study published in the journal Heart, researchers from China found that people who ate an average of one egg per day had lower rates of heart disease and an even lower risk of having a bleeding stroke than people who did not eat eggs. The study included nearly half a million people in China who filled out questionnaires about their egg-eating habits and were followed for nine years on average for heart-related health events. People who said they ate eggs da...

Effect of Vitamin D Level on Clinical Outcomes in Patients Undergoing Left Ventricular Assist Device Implantation.
CONCLUSIONS: In patients with LVAD, both deficiency and insufficiency of 25-OH vitamin D levels are independently associated with increased postoperative driveline infection risk and higher rate of readmission. Further trials are needed to confirm whether a repletion regimen could be a promising means of decreasing the risk for these postoperative adverse events. New Biomarkers for Atherothrombosis in Antiphospholipid Syndrome: Genomics and Epigenetics Approaches
Conclusions In recent years, there have been many advances in the understanding of the molecular basis for vascular involvement in APS, but many areas need to be further investigated, in particular the association between altered genetic/epigenetic profiles, autoantibodies and clinical manifestations, and the effectiveness of new therapeutic strategies. It would be interesting to apply next generation sequencing technologies like RNA-Seq along with GWAS to screen both, the gene profile and the whole transcriptome of large cohorts of primary APS patients, in order to reveal the mutations/polymorphisms, post-transcriptiona...

Lipoprotein(a) levels are associated with coronary severity but not with outcomes in Chinese patients underwent percutaneous coronary intervention
ConclusionLp(a) is an independent predictor of the prevalence of more complex coronary artery lesions (SYNTAX score ≥ 23) in patients with PCI. In addition, our study has shown that Lp(a) has no relationship with long-term cardiovascular outcomes in Chinese patients with PCI.
