Internet use after prostate cancer : Search for information and trust in disease-related information in long-term survivors.
CONCLUSIONS: Two-thirds of long-term PCa survivors are using the internet. A significant proportion expressed difficulties finding proper and reliable information. Urologists should be familiar with online resources on PCa in order to offer advice to patients and to recommend adequate information on the internet. Complete Biochemical (Prostate-specific Antigen) Response to Sipuleucel-T With Enzalutamide in Castration-resistant Prostate Cancer: A Case Report With Implications for Future Research
Conclusion: Sipuleucel-T typically does not produce significant PSA reductions, and, to the best of our knowledge, only 1 previous report of a durable complete PSA response in a patient with metastatic disease has been published. The timing of this response supports an immune mechanism. The biologic rationale for the combination, coupled with the clinical result observed in our patient, provides a basis for studies of the combination of sipuleucel-T and enzalutamide.

Use of multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) in localized prostate cancer.
Authors: O'Connor L, Wang A, Walker SM, Yerram N, Pinto PA, Turkbey B Abstract Introduction: Prostate magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is commonly used for localized disease mainly to detect intraprostatic lesions and to guide biopsies. despite its documented success in clinical practice, limitations still exist for prostate MRI. In this review we discuss common clinical uses of prostate MRI, its limitations and potential solutions for those limitations.Areas Covered: Current uses of prostate MRI and challenges discussed. Literature search in PubMed was completed using the key words "prostate MRI, prostate cancer"....

Exploring the impact of public health campaigns for glaucoma and macular degeneration utilising Google Trends data in a New Zealand setting.
CONCLUSIONS: Glaucoma and macular degeneration search behaviour in New Zealand has a low impact following health awareness campaigns in comparison to breast and prostate cancer. This implies there is scope for improvement with these campaigns and a large increase in macular degeneration activity following a public meeting, and report release suggests that increased funding may increase impact. This study also highlights the utility of internet data for cost-effective monitoring of public interest in health issues. PMID: 32379735 [PubMed - in process]

18F-prostate specific membrane antigen positron emission tomography/computerized tomography for lymph node staging in medium/high risk prostate cancer: A systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: 18F-PSMA PET/CT showed moderate sensitivity but high specificity in lymph node staging of medium/high-risk PCa. The diagnostic efficacy was almost equivalent to that reported for 68Ga-PSMA PET/CT.REGISTRATION: International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (PROSPERO), No. CRD42023391101.PMID:37690993 | DOI:10.1097/CM9.0000000000002850

The association between education and risk of major cardiovascular events among prostate cancer patients: a study from the Diet, Cancer and Health study.
CONCLUSIONS: The risk of acute myocardial infarction was increased in prostate cancer patients with short or medium education compared with long education. Although the educational inequality did not seem to be explained by differences in treatment, lifestyle or cardiovascular risk factors, monitoring of cardiovascular health and health promotion should involve all prostate cancer patients regardless of social position to ensure best prognosis for all. Knowledge and Awareness of Prostate Cancer Among Omani Men Attending a Teaching Hospital
AbstractProstate cancer is ranked as the fourth most prevalent cancer in the world and the second most common cancer affecting men. In Oman, prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers among men, with the majority of prostate cancer patients presenting in the more advanced stages of the disease. Public awareness of the risk factors, symptoms and emphasising the importance of seeking early medical attention could help to improve the outcomes and survival rates of prostate cancer patients. The aim of this study is to determine the awareness levels of the risk factors, symptoms and barriers to seeking early medical inte...

AAPM BTSC Report 377: Physicist Brachytherapy Training in 2021-A survey of therapeutic medical physics residency program directors
CONCLUSIONS: Based on the responses of the program directors, it was identified that the residency programs might benefit from additional resources such as virtual BT training, interinstitutional collaborations as well as resident fellowships. Programs might also benefit from additional guidance related to BT-specific training requirements to help program directors attest Authorized Medical Physicist eligibility for graduating residents.PMID:36651371 | DOI:10.1002/acm2.13859

Supporting Patients Treated for Prostate Cancer: A Video Vignette Study With an Email-Based Educational Program in General Practice
Conclusions: The management of standardized patients by GPs was particularly unlikely to be consistent with expert opinion in the management of impotence and bony metastasis. There was no evidence from this standardized patient study that Spaced Education had an impact on the management of patients in this context. However, the program was not completed by all participants. Practitioners with a greater clinical load were more likely to manage cases as per expert opinion.

Does your birthday affect your disease risk?
Conclusion This modelling study used a large US medical centre database to explore the relationship between month of birth and lifetime disease risk. The study found a number of associations between birth month and risk of disease, some of which had been previously reported in the literature, as well as other new associations. While these findings are of interest, this study can only demonstrate observations and associations. The study does not provide proof that being born in any particular month is the direct cause of any future disease development. There may be many unmeasured factors behind any associations between d...

Abstract 880: Obesity predicts prostate cancer-specific mortality after radical prostatectomy: Results from the SEARCH database
We examined the effect of obesity at the time of radical prostatectomy (RP) on long-term prostate cancer-specific outcomes among men treated at Veterans Affairs Hospitals in the USA.METHODS: We combined data from patients undergoing RP at six Veterans Affairs Medical Centers (West Los Angeles, San Diego, and Palo Alto, CA; Augusta, GA; and Durham and Asheville, NC) into the SEARCH database. Our exposure, body mass index (BMI) was abstracted from the medical records at the time of but prior to RP and categorized as normal weight (
