Flutamide-induced hepatotoxicity: ethical and scientific issues.
CONCLUSIONS: Scientific contributions highlight that FLU is responsible for specific hepatotoxic profiles in the female gender. From the ethical point of view, off-label prescribing of FLU in women is not only substantially unlawful, but also, without major safeguards being granted, a potential source of liability for prescribers. Rectal/urinary toxicity after hypofractionated vs. conventional radiotherapy in high risk prostate cancer: systematic review and meta analysis.
CONCLUSIONS: Our analysis doesn't want to establish a definitive truth; very few trials assessed only high risk-class patients. Our purpose is to stimulate further randomized prospective trials focusing both on the effectiveness and toxicity profile (toxicity/effectiveness ratio), taking into account the use of different technologies and doses. American Urological Association and Society for Medical Decision Making Quality Improvement Summit 2016: Shared Decision Making and Prostate Cancer Screening
Conclusions Practitioners should include formal SDM procedures surrounding PSA testing in their practices to ensure that testing is in accordance with patient values and desired outcomes. Tools and strategies like those reviewed in this Quality Improvement Summit are invaluable for alleviating potential burden on providers, ensuring communication, and improving quality of care.

First postoperative PSA is associated with outcomes in patients with node positive prostate cancer: Results from the SEARCH database.
CONCLUSIONS: pN1 patients with a first postoperative PSA ≥0.2ng/ml were more likely to develop metastases. First postoperative PSA may be useful in identifying pN1 patients who harbor distant disease and aid in secondary treatment decisions. PMID: 29429895 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Radical Prostatectomy and the Effect of Close Surgical Margins: Results from the SEARCH database
ConclusionsManagement of men with close surgical margins is a diagnostic challenge, with a disease course that is not entirely benign. Evaluation of other known risk factors likely provide greater prognostic value for these men and may ultimately better select those who may benefit from adjuvant therapy. This article is protected by copyright. Molecules, Vol. 23, Pages 567: Identification and Characterizations of Novel, Selective Histone Methyltransferase SET7 Inhibitors by Scaffold Hopping- and 2D-Molecular Fingerprint-Based Similarity Search
heng Luo Kai Chen SET7, serving as the only histone methyltransferase that monomethylates ‘Lys-4’ of histone H3, has been proved to function as a key regulator in diverse biological processes, such as cell proliferation, transcriptional network regulation in embryonic stem cell, cell cycle control, protein stability, heart morphogenesis and development. What′s more, SET7 is involved inthe pathogenesis of alopecia aerate, breast cancer, tumor and cancer progression, atherosclerosis in human carotid plaques, chronic renal diseases, diabetes, obesity, ovarian cancer, prostate cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, and ...

Association Between Socioeconomic Status and Tumor Grade Among Black Men with Prostate Cancer.
CONCLUSIONS: SES differences among black men did not fully explain the high grade of prostate cancer. Further research is needed on the biology of the disease and to assess access to medical care and prostate health education, discrimination, stress exposures, and social norms that might contribute to the aggressiveness of prostate cancer among black men. Neutrophil, lymphocyte and platelet counts, and risk of prostate cancer outcomes in white and black men: results from the SEARCH database
ConclusionPre-operative CBC measures were not associated with PC outcomes in black or white men undergoing radical prostatectomy, except for neutrophils-positive association with risk of ACM in white men. Whether circulating immune cell markers provide insight to the pathophysiology of PC progression or adverse treatment outcomes requires further study.

Web-Based Versus Usual Care and Other Formats of Decision Aids to Support Prostate Cancer Screening Decisions: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
Conclusions: According to this analysis, Web-based decision aids performed similarly to alternative formats (ie, printed, video) for the assessed decision-quality outcomes. The low cost, readiness, availability, and anonymity of the Web can be an advantage for increasing access to decision aids that support prostate cancer screening decisions among men.

Socioeconomic status, race, and long-term outcomes after radical prostatectomy in an equal access health system: Results from the SEARCH database.
CONCLUSIONS: In an equal-access setting, lower SES associated with decreased CRPC, metastases, and PCSM in black but not white men. If confirmed, these findings suggest a complex relationship between race, SES, and PC with further research needed to understand why low SES in black men decreased the risk for poor PC outcomes after RP. Phospholipase C (PLC) ε Promotes Androgen Receptor Antagonist Resistance via the Bone Morphogenetic Protein (BMP)-6/SMAD Axis in a Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer Cell Line.
CONCLUSIONS The present results suggest that targeting of PLCε/BMP-6/SMAD signaling may increase the sensitivity of CRPC to AR antagonists and inhibit tumor progression. PMID: 31201297 [PubMed - in process]
