Continuous Tunneled Infraclavicular Nerve Catheter for Palliative Management of Critical Limb Ischemia: A Case Report
We describe the successful use of a continuous local anesthetic infusion via an infraclavicular nerve catheter to control severe refractory ischemic upper limb pain in a patient with metastatic lung cancer for whom surgical and pharmacological intervention was unsuccessful. As her opioid requirements increased due to worsening ischemic pain, she subsequently developed opioid toxicity, hence prompting the palliative use of a tunneled infraclavicular nerve catheter under ultrasound guidance to minimize opioid requirements. Her opioid requirements tailed down subsequently with the successful insertion of the infraclavicular n...

Serratus anterior plane block as a successful single anesthesia technique for thoracoscopy biopsy surgery: A case series
We report three cases of suspected lung cancer patients who underwent thoracoscopic biopsy and postoperative chest drainage. The patients underwent SAPB with light sedation during the procedure. After surgery, the patients were observed in the intensive care unit. For postoperative pain management, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) were used as an adjunct to intraoperative SAPB. Adequate pain control was achieved on a numeric rating scale of 0 to 2 over the 1 × 24 postoperative period, and opioid analgesics were not used in these patients. SAPB was successfully used in patients undergoing thoracoscopy biopsy s...

The impact of comorbidities, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, and drug toxicities on quality of life in lung cancer patients receiving EGFR-TKI therapy
CONCLUSION: Diarrhea, anorexia, skin pain, and pruritus may cause a deterioration in QoL in patients receiving EGFR-TKI therapy. NLR may be a potential predictive factor for QoL impairment. Aggressive management and close monitoring for these clinical factors are crucial to improve QoL.PMID:37563020 | DOI:10.1016/j.jfma.2023.07.017
