Patterns of PET-positive residual tissue at interim restaging and risk of treatment failure in advanced-stage Hodgkin's lymphoma: an analysis of the randomized phase III HD18 trial by the German Hodgkin Study Group
CONCLUSION: PET-2-positive residuals of AS-HL are mostly located in the mediastinum, and a majority of patients have few affected regions. The risk of progression was twofold higher in patients with more than two positive regions in PET-2.PMID:37735258 | DOI:10.1007/s00259-023-06431-w

Outcomes of Patients Treated With RCHOP With a PET-Adapted Approach for Consolidative Radiotherapy: A Retrospective Single-Center Study at the Royal Marsden Hospital
CONCLUSION: CRT may be omitted in patients with a negative end of treatment PET scans; however, careful observation may also obviate the need for CRT in PET positive patients.PMID:37734988 | DOI:10.1016/j.clml.2023.08.021

Synchronous rectal adenocarcinoma and intestinal mantle cell lymphoma: A case report
CONCLUSION: Synchronous rectal adenocarcinoma and intestinal MCL presenting as multiple lymphomatous polyposis are extremely rare. MCL is often discovered fortuitously when rectal cancer is diagnosed. The coexistence of these tumors poses treatment challenges.PMID:37727717 | PMC:PMC10506007 | DOI:10.12998/wjcc.v11.i24.5772

Cancers, Vol. 15, Pages 4651: Is Insulin Receptor Substrate4 (IRS4) a Platform Involved in the Activation of Several Oncogenes?
Miguel A. Ortega The IRS (insulin receptor substrate) family of scaffold proteins includes insulin receptor substrate-4 (IRS4), which is expressed only in a few cell lines, including human kidney, brain, liver, and thymus and some cell lines. Its N-terminus carries a phosphotyrosine-binding (PTB) domain and a pleckstrin homology domain (PH), which distinguishes it as a member of this family. In this paper, we collected data about the molecular mechanisms that explain the relevance of IRS4 in the development of cancer and identify IRS4 differences that distinguish it from IRS1 and IRS2. Search engines and different dat...

Leukemic-phase mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma
Int J Hematol. 2023 Sep 12. doi: 10.1007/s12185-023-03654-3. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA 78-year-old man presenting with leukocytosis was admitted to our hospital. The patient was asymptomatic and showed no lymphadenopathy. Peripheral blood flow cytometry revealed a leukemic-phase B-cell lymphoma with medium-to-large abnormal cells with reticulum. Positron emission tomography/computed tomography revealed abnormal uptake in the right orbit, bone marrow, and spleen. We performed immunological staining and fluorescence in situ hybridization on tissues extracted from the right orbit and bone marrow, which led to the diagno...

Malignant hypercalcemia revealing a diffuse large B ‐cell lymphoma in a patient with a previous diagnosis of chronic myelomonocytic leukemia: An uncommon hematological coexistence
Key Clinical MessageA 76-year-old patient previously admitted to the cardiology department for replacement of a right ventricular lead on a double-chamber pacemaker was admitted to the internal medicine department 15  days after for bronchopneumopathy. His past medical history was relevant for Type 2 diabetes mellitus, heart failure due to dilated hypokinetic heart disease, transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), and chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML-0) diagnosed in 2021. Twenty-four hours after ad mission, the patient's general condition deteriorated abruptly, with the onset of drowsiness and psychomotor ret...

Repeated deep-inspiration breath-hold CT scans at planning underestimate the actual motion between breath-holds at treatment for lung cancer and lymphoma patients
Conclusion Intra-DIBH shifts at planning-CT session are generally smaller than intra-DIBH shifts observed at CBCTpre/post and therefore underestimate the intra-fractional DIBH uncertainty during treatment. Lung tumours show larger intra-fractional variations than lymph nodes and lymphoma targets.PMID:37659663 | DOI:10.1016/j.radonc.2023.109887

Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma involving osseous sites: utility of response assessment by PET/CT and good long-term outcomes
Haematologica. 2023 Aug 31. doi: 10.3324/haematol.2022.282643. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTOsseous involvement by diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL-bone) is a heterogeneous disease. There is limited data regarding response assessment by positron emission tomography with FDG, which may demonstrate residual avidity despite a complete response. We analyzed clinical data of patients with newly diagnosed DLBCL and identified all cases with DLBCL-bone. End of treatment scans were reviewed by two independent experts classifying osseous lesions into Deauville ≤3; Deauville ≥ 4, or reactive uptake in the bone marrow (M), s...
