Hydrogen sulfide modulates epithelial-mesenchymal transition and angiogenesis in non-small cell lung cancer via HIF-1 α activation.
Hydrogen sulfide modulates epithelial-mesenchymal transition and angiogenesis in non-small cell lung cancer via HIF-1α activation. Biochem Pharmacol. 2019 Dec 20;:113775 Authors: Wang M, Yan J, Cao X, Hua P, Li Z Abstract Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) has been frequently implicated in tumor progression. However, the exact regulation mechanism of H2S in human non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) has not been fully elucidated. Here, analysis of NSCLC biopsies and adjacent non-tumor tissues revealed selectively high levels of endogenous H2S-producing enzymes, cystathionine-beta-synthase (CBS), cystathionine-gamm...

JMJD3 enhances invasiveness and migratory capacity of non-small cell lung cancer cell via activating EMT signaling pathway.
CONCLUSIONS: JMJD3 expression was found conspicuously increased in NSCLC, which might be close relevant to NSCLC lymphatic or distant metastasis as well as patients' poor prognosis. Therefore, we speculated that JMJD3 could promote invasiveness and migratory capacity of non-small cell lung cancer cells by activating EMT process. PMID: 31210309 [PubMed - in process]

The oncogenic role of CB2 in the progression of non-small-cell lung cancer
ConclusionOur data suggested that targeting CB2 may inhibit the growth and survival of NSCLC cells, which the Akt/mTOR/P70S6K pathway may be involved in. These results confer the pro-oncogenic role of CB2 in the progression of NSCLC, thus improving our understanding of CB2 in tumor progression.

Linc00261 suppresses growth and metastasis of non-small cell lung cancer via repressing epithelial-mesenchymal transition.
CONCLUSIONS: We demonstrated that linc00261 was lowly expressed in NSCLC tissues and cells. It inhibited cell proliferation and metastasis by downregulating Snail expression via EMT. This might provide a novel sight for the biological treatment for NSCLC. PMID: 31115010 [PubMed - in process]

DDR1 and MT1-MMP Expression Levels Are Determinant for Triggering BIK-Mediated Apoptosis by 3D Type I Collagen Matrix in Invasive Basal-Like Breast Carcinoma Cells
In conclusion, and in agreement with the other studies (Ford et al., 2007; Koh et al., 2015; Toy et al., 2015; Takai et al., 2018), our data suggest that during the acquisition of mesenchymal features, the level of full-length DDR1 expression should be considered, in addition to the other markers, as an important biomarker in the prognosis of aggressive breast carcinomas. As summarized in Figure 9, the regulation of cell proliferation and apoptosis by the collagen/DDR1 axis involves a differential activation of DDR1 signaling pathway and thus BIK expression. In the case of the basal-like bre...

Non-canonical Notch Signaling Regulates Actin Remodeling in Cell Migration by Activating PI3K/AKT/Cdc42 Pathway
In conclusion, our research results indicate that DAPT activates PI3K/AKT/Cdc42 signaling by non-canonical Notch pathway, and the activated Cdc42 promotes the filopodia formation and inhibits lamellipodia assembly, resulting in reduced migration of breast cancer cells. The results imply that non-canonical Notch signaling may play a very important role in the rapid response of cells to the extracellular signals. Author Contributions LG, JD, and LL designed the study and wrote and revised the manuscript. LL and LZ performed most of the experiments and data analysis. SZ, X-YZ, P-XM, Y-DM, Y-YW, YC, S-JT, and Y-JZ assisted i...

Connecting Metainflammation and Neuroinflammation Through the PTN-MK-RPTP β/ζ Axis: Relevance in Therapeutic Development
Conclusion The expression of the components of the PTN-MK-RPTPβ/ζ axis in immune cells and in inflammatory diseases suggests important roles for this axis in inflammation. Pleiotrophin has been recently identified as a limiting factor of metainflammation, a chronic pathological state that contributes to neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration. Pleiotrophin also seems to potentiate acute neuroinflammation independently of the inflammatory stimulus while MK seems to play different -even opposite- roles in acute neuroinflammation depending on the stimulus. Which are the functions of MK and PTN in chronic neuroi...

A novel hybrid of 3-benzyl coumarin seco-B-ring derivative and phenylsulfonylfuroxan induces apoptosis and autophagy in non-small-cell lung cancer
ConclusionThese findings raise a rationale that this 3-benzyl coumarin seco-B-ring derivative and phenylsulfonylfuroxan hybrid could be a promising candidate for developing as a therapeutic agent toward NSCLC, and the combination therapy through PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway may result in optimized treatment outcomes.Graphical Abstract

LncRNA THOR acts as a retinoblastoma promoter through enhancing the combination of c-myc mRNA and IGF2BP1 protein
In conclusion, this study makes clear that lncRNA THOR is up-regulated in retinoblastoma, and its over-expression significantly enhances the malignant phenotype transformation of retinoblastoma cells through up-regulating c-myc expression via enhancing its combination with TGF2BP1 protein. Overall, our study illustrates that lncRNA THOR/c-myc molecular cascade might be another potent target for retinoblastoma treatment.
