Value of ultrasound in assessing response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in breast cancer
CONCLUSION: This study has shown significance in reducing LD measurements on ultrasound as a predictor of PCR and RCB class. This adds weight to the current practice of using ultrasound at the start, mid and end of chemotherapy cycles to monitor NACT responses.PMID:37734976 | DOI:10.1016/j.crad.2023.07.010

Boiling histotripsy induces dendritic cell activation and acquisition of antigen in tumor draining lymph nodes
bioRxiv. 2023 Sep 6:2023.09.02.552844. doi: 10.1101/2023.09.02.552844. Preprint.ABSTRACTBoiling histotripsy (BH), a mechanical focused ultrasound ablation strategy, can elicit intriguing signatures of anti-tumor immunity. However, the influence of BH on dendritic cell function is unknown, compromising our ability to optimally combine BH with immunotherapies to control metastatic disease. Here, by applying BH to B16F10 melanoma expressing a ZsGreen antigen in a monotherapy protocol that elicits abscopal tumor control, we observed a marked increase in antigen acquisition by multiple phagocytic immune cells, including convent...

Blood flow on ultrasound imaging is a predictor of lump margin status in breast-conserving patients: a retrospective matching study
CONCLUSIONS: Ultrasound blood flow significantly predicts the status of breast-conserving margins, but further studies are required to verify our findings.PMID:37730626 | DOI:10.1186/s40001-023-01356-4

Ultrasound Microvessel Visualization in Cervical Cancer: Association Between Novel Ultrasound Techniques and Histologic Microvessel Densities
CONCLUSION: These findings validate the superiority and accuracy of MBVEGFR2-based USMI for microvessel imaging and monitoring of angiogenesis in cervical cancer compared with SMI and MBCon. Nonetheless, SMI remains an alternative to microvessel imaging when ultrasonic contrast agent use is contraindicated.PMID:37730477 | DOI:10.1016/j.ultrasmedbio.2023.08.017

Analysis of Prognoses according to Breast MRI Results in Patients with Axillary Lymph Node Metastases from an Unknown Primary Origin
CONCLUSION: The prognoses of MR-negative patients with ACUPax who received ALND and WBRT followed by chemotherapy were as good as those of patients with MRI-detected primary breast cancers.PMID:37727923 | DOI:10.3349/ymj.2023.0181

mpMRI-targeted biopsy of the prostate in men ≥ 75 years. 7-year report from a high-volume referral center
CONCLUSION: After evaluation of a large patient cohort, we show that age≥75 years represents a significant risk factor for the detection of clinically significant prostate cancer. Further studies on mid- and long term outcome are necessary to draw conclusions for clinical decision making in this patient cohort.PMID:37718788 | DOI:10.3233/CH-238101

Diagnostic efficiency among Eu-/C-/ACR-TIRADS and S-Detect for thyroid nodules: a systematic review and network meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: Among four ultrasound risk stratification options, this systemic review preliminarily proved that C-TIRADS possessed favorable diagnostic performance for thyroid nodules.SYSTEMATIC REVIEW REGISTRATION: https://www.crd.york.ac.uk/prospero, CRD42022382818.PMID:37720531 | PMC:PMC10501732 | DOI:10.3389/fendo.2023.1227339
