Prosth, Perio, OMFS, or GP?
I’m a D4 student, and I’m interested in prosth, perio, and oral surgery. I’m interested in doing things like extraction, full mouth rehabilitation, all-on-4, implants, anesthesia, and sinus lift. I can’t decide which specialty I like the most because we can’t do these advanced procedures at dental school, so I’m planning to do a GPR first to get more experience in doing more complex cases, so that I can decide what I want to do. Prosth: I think I may be a little more interested in prosth... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Cancer rehabilitation
For those of you incorporating cancer rehabilitation into your practices, what are some things you are doing differently then general PM&R and pain. How are you going about getting referrals from oncology (what are you marketing to them) and what specific types of things are you generally treating? Genuinely interested as I am looking to incorporate some newer ideas/techniques/procedures into my practice that I might be overlooking to help build volume. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

My experience at the San Antonio V.A. AEGD (South Texas)
As someone who was frustrated with how little there is on the internet about AEGD/GPR programs when I was applying, I wanted to “give back” to SDN and touch on my experience at the San Antonio Veterans Affairs AEGD (South Texas V.A.). Skills learned: Plan, place, and restore implants (including full arch/edentulous) Full mouth rehabilitations (restoring every tooth in the mouth, usually at an increased VDO) Same-day CEREC restorations Vertical sinus lifts using Versah burs... Non-retail pharmacy manager pros/cons?
Hi SDN members, I have a couple opportunities to apply for manager position in oncology infusion center and rehabilitation hospital. I couldn't find the thread but sometime ago there were a few experienced SDN members discussed the pros and cons of being a manager. I've worked in inpatient and outpatient settings so I fully understand politics play an important role being in management positions. Besides playing politics, I would love to hear from veterans what do you think about being in... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Forensic psych advice/gap year opportunities?
Hi all, I am taking a gap year before applying to a doctorate program with hopes of becoming a forensic psychologist. Some of my interests include rehabilitation of those wrongfully convicted, assessment and intervention for those with extreme mental illness who have been convicted of violent crimes, and equine therapy for inmates. I would most likely want to work in a prison, with the Innocence Project, and possibly do consults for the FBI. I am curious to hear what steps I should take to... Telehealth work in PM & R
Is anyone doing tele-rehabilitation work either as their primary job or as a moonlighting/side job? COVID opened the gates I think to people accepting and seeing the value of telemedicine, but I'm wondering if there will be more opportunities. I know SFN consulting is something more of my colleagues are getting into. Could one do this via telelhealth, with say the help with a nurse or MA on site? @PMR2008 (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Have been considering Podiatry school for many years, debating - chances?
Long time lurker on SDN. I have been looking into Podiatry for many years, and find myself looking into it all the time. It seems like a great mix between medicine, surgery, and rehabilitation (Podiatrists looks at biomechanics, fabricate orthotics, etc). Work/life balance seems pretty good as well. Anyways, some rough stats since I am debating this. Age: Late 20s, will be in the early 30s if I do this. Family situation: Married, with kids. Overall GPA: 3.3 SciGPA: 3.0 MCAT: Took... TIRR Memorial Hermann Job
Hello, I wanted to get everybody's thoughts and opinions about TIRR Memorial Hermann as a place to work. There are two positions (neuropsychologist and rehabilitation psychologist) that are open, but I wasn't sure how they are in terms of pay, benefits, reputation, atmosphere, etc. It would be great to get all perspectives (good, bad, ugly). Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Chapter 31 VR & E: Changes with the Appeal-Denial Process (2019)
Many have referenced Ben Krause (attorney and an advocate for disabled veterans) when it comes to preparing for Chapter 31 appointments. With that, I have a hyperlink validating details of the denial process and the steps you must take for an appealment as of 2019. New Rules: How To Appeal VA Vocational Rehabilitation Denials In 2019 The rules have changed. A new buffet of options for initiating appeals processes for VA Voc Rehab denials or lowball offers requires an updated approach. In 2017, Congress passed new legislation ma… ...
