A comprehensive review and meta-analysis of neurological side effects related to second-generation antidepressants in individuals with major depressive disorder
In conclusion, frequently used SGADs demonstrated distinct patterns of neurological SEs, which physicians should consider when prescribing antidepressants to promote treatment adherence and favorable outcomes in patients with MDD.PMID:37044221 | DOI:10.1016/j.bbr.2023.114431 (Source: Brain Research)

Clinical Pharmacogenetics Implementation Consortium (CPIC) Guideline for CYP2D6, CYP2C19, CYP2B6, SLC6A4, and HTR2A Genotypes and Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor Antidepressants
Clin Pharmacol Ther. 2023 Apr 9. doi: 10.1002/cpt.2903. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSerotonin reuptake inhibitor antidepressants, including selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs; i.e., citalopram, escitalopram, fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, paroxetine, and sertraline), serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs; i.e., desvenlafaxine, duloxetine, levomilnacipran, milnacipran, and venlafaxine), and serotonin modulators with SSRI-like properties (i.e., vilazodone and vortioxetine) are primary pharmacologic treatments for major depressive and anxiety disorders. Genetic variation in CYP2D6, CYP2C19, and CYP2B...

Impact of polymorphisms in CYP and UGT enzymes and ABC and SLCO1B1 transporters on the pharmacokinetics and safety of desvenlafaxine
In conclusion, the strong dose-dependent relationship with the occurrence of ADRs confirms that the mechanism of action of desvenlafaxine is essentially dose-dependent. (Source: Frontiers in Pharmacology)

Withdrawal Syndrome Following Discontinuation of 28 Antidepressants: Pharmacovigilance Analysis of 31,688 Reports from the WHO Spontaneous Reporting Database
ConclusionsAntidepressants are associated with an increased reporting of withdrawal syndrome compared with other drug classes. When prescribing and discontinuing antidepressants, clinicians should be aware of the potentially different proclivity of withdrawal syndrome across individual antidepressants, and the liability to experience more severe withdrawal symptoms in relation to specific patient characteristics. Antidepressants and Antipsychotics in Human Pregnancy: Transfer Across the Placenta and Opportunities for Modeling Studies
The objective of the current review was to systematically screen the scientific literature using relevant keywords to collect quantitative data on placental transfer of these drugs in humans and to give an overview of current modeling approaches used in this context. The collected data encompassed clinically measured fetal:maternal (F:M) concentration ratios (ie, the ratio between drug concentrations measured in the umbilical cord and drug concentrations measured in the mother) and transfer data obtained from ex vivo cotyledon perfusion experiments. These data were found for 18 antidepressants and some of their pharmacolog...
