Stellate Ganglion Blocks for PTSD?
Just curious what others are doing. In milmed these have become pretty common and I'm doing a few a month with pretty good success. Do any insurances cover it? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Criterion A and trauma
Thoughts on whether Criterion A for PTSD is a) adequate/good as a definition of traumatic events or b) overly narrow and restrictive in its definition? As a violence researcher, I have colleagues I respect on both sides of this, and I fall somewhat in the middle in that I think people *way* over-extend the definition of trauma to mean "any distressing experience" and that there are some experiences that are potentially traumatic but don't fall under Criterion A (emotional abuse, etc). Also... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Virtual EMDR
I've noticed this has been getting advertised to me all over the place lately. Has anyone else come across this? Virtual EMDR Online therapy for PTSD, trauma, depression, anxiety, addiction. Effective self-guided program for use at home without a therapist. Free trial www.virtualemdr.com Some of the claims on their website seem wildly irresponsible to me. It seems like they haven't done any actual evaluation of the effectiveness of their virtual implementation of EMDR and are just ...

A list of different PTSD treatments
Hello all, I am looking the common and less than common treatments used for PTSD. In particular, I want to know the common ones (e.g., CPT, PE), the more debated ones (e.g., EMDR), some other researched stuff (e.g., mindfulness, TM), and the pseudoscience (e.g., TFT). Does anyone have a resource for this? Or can we just throw all these into this thread? Thanks, (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Cyproheptadine for sexual side effects
So I've had a few VA patients lately who have been a bit unique in terms of medications and was hoping to get some input on people's experience with Cyproheptadine, as I have some questions about it that my supervising attending hasn't been able to answer (overall he's great, but just doesn't use Cyproheptadine and admits he doesn't really know a lot about it). First patient is more straightforward, 30-something yo m with PTSD and insomnia 2/2 severe nightmares. Prazosin did nothing and... Borderline Personality Disorder as a "dumping ground" diagnosis for chronic suicidality?
Has anyone else noticed that clinicians seem to be assuming that chronic suicidality equals a definitive diagnosis of BPD more and more, without doing a good differential? I mean, with chronic suicidality, BPD should definitely be on the differential list, but it's not the only disorder that can lead to this (MDD, Persistent Depressive Disorder, PTSD, etc), nor is it sufficient to diagnosis BPD in and of itself. It remains me of the old (and still somewhat prevalent) idea that non-suicidal... Borderline Personality Disorder as a "dumping ground" diagnosis for chronic suicidality?
