FDA approves 'SKOUT' - a new AI device to detect colon polyps
https://www.cancertherapyadvisor.com/home/cancer-topics/gastrointestinal-cancers/fda-clears-skout-to-detect-colorectal-polyps-in-real-time-during-colonoscopy/ Interesting article that leads to more questions: Does FDA approval mean gastroenterologists can bill more for using the device vs standard colonoscopy? If so, will insurance companies reimburse for it? And on the path end, does this mean receiving more or less colon biopsies if this becomes widely adopted? I could see... Took on 12/13, think I may have failed :/
US AMG taking it for the first time. Major Mistakes: 1. Completely forgot to wear gloves/wash hands at one station. 2. Forgot to counsel a patient about the use of a substance he was getting from a friend. It wasn’t central to the case but it was a big deal. 3. From a menorrhea case I completely lost my head about the differential and did not list fibroids/polyps as a diagnosis. She couldn’t get pregnant for 6 months and I put asherman, adenomyosis but no fibroids. I did say there’s may be... Took on 12/13, think I may have failed :/ (Source: Student Doctor Network)

GI procedures besides colonoscopy?
Completed IM rotation (M3) and in Cardiology there seems to be a lot of different procedures and tests when I read patient's notes. There's Angioplasty/Cath/Stent, CABG, Electrical Ablations, Valve replacements, etc. I've heard of a ton coming up. In GI, it seems like the only procedure I've seen is a sigmoidoscopy, EGD, or colonoscopy which can be therapeutic as they remove the polyp. I also don't see those going away because how can it when you have to go in and pluck thing something out.... GI procedures besides colonoscopy? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

nasal polyps and deviated septum
I just went to the ENT Dr. on Monday because I've been having obvious signs of polyps. I can't breathe from my nose at all. It sounds like I have a cold because the polyps are blocking my airway. I've had polyps removed at least 3 or 4 times in the past 6 years. Dr. has mentioned they will always grow back even after removed. Just a matter of WHEN. Mine grow back about every one and a half to two years but this time they came back within only a year. I had surgery around this time last year. Dr. said he has the ability to remove polyps in his office but he couldn't do it with me because my nose is too narrow. He said becau...

C.777delT & DF508
I think my son is the only one with this combination. Anyone else have c.777delT? He was diagnosed at birth with MI & sweat test of 112. He's 14 yrs old, no hospitalizations or major lung complications so far. Main issues are with digestion (since birth) & nasal polyps (onset age 12). The results of this second mutation read - c.777delT (frameshift): Not a previously reported CFTR to our knowledge but predicted to be deleterious. I'm assuming that means Class 2 but with the mildness of his disease so far it leads me to believe it's not? thoughts? (Source: Cystic Fibrosis DNA and Mutations Forum)
