Podcasts
Hello, apologies if this thread is redundant but I couldn't find any recent threads. I have a new, long commute and want to stay up to date on the world of healthcare. What are your favorite medical podcasts that keep you informed on healthcare policy, social issues, medical advancements, epidemics, cost of care, etc. I already listen to a few that are entertaining medical podcasts but I want to make sure I'm knowledgable on basic topics too. Thank you!! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

PTSD and Stellate Ganglion Blocks
Hello: New to this forum. I am a board certified Pain Medicine MD. I have been seeing patients that are interested in stellate ganglion blocks (cervical sympathetic chain) for PTSD, depression, anxiety, etc. Most of these patients found my practice due to the specificity/complexity of this procedure. Apparently, a '60minutes' CBS piece and a Podcast has sparked interest in this procedure for the aforementioned conditions. I have done my due diligence and cannot find literature... Resources for Billing?
Do y’all recommend any resources (websites, podcasts, blogs, YouTube videos, PDFs) where I can learn more about how to bill? It could even be conferences (ie ASIPP, AAPM). Ideally I’d like to learn the following: What exactly do I have to include in a clinic note or post op note in order to capture all legal billing? How can I pass audits and minimize risks in billing according to guidelines? I’m sure it changes frequently but I don’t need 100% up to date... Resources for Billing? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Psychology-related podcasts
I now spend a few hours of my day sitting in traffic so I finally have time to get into podcasts. I enjoy WTF, NPR, and a few of the big ones, but I was wondering if anybody knew of any interesting Psych-related podcasts. Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

M4 Cardiology Elective Reading
Just started my cardiology elective but don't have a defined reading list for the elective. I am rereading Dubin's and Lilly's text but would greatly appreciate any foundational trials/papers that I should read? Or of you have any links to websites/podcasts/etc. that are worth reading? Thanks a lot! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

New Pre-Med Podcast Resource
I've created a new podcast for the pre-med community called, All Access: Med School Admissions. This show brings to listeners informative and (often) entertaining conversations between other medical school admissions colleagues and me. You will hear from a wide variety of medical schools and will learn what makes their programs unique. You will also receive information as to what these schools are looking for in their applicants... Audio study tools
Any med students have suggestions for audio board prep type podcast or recordings? I listen to Golijan on my drives, but I honestly don’t like it. Inside the Boards is great, but it’s not enough for me. I’d really like subject discussions, just comversations chipping away at difficult concepts. I’ve thought about purchasing the Inside the Boards Audiobook Q bank, but I suspect they don’t spend much time on explanations. Would much rather have something organized into subjects, like Golijan,... Audio study tools (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Personal Statement Advice
I'm applying next cycle and beginning to think about writing my personal statement. I know the personal statement is supposed to answer "why medicine" but I don't feel like I have a distinct moment of deciding to be a physician. It was more of a nagging feeling over a number of years. Also, I have heard conflicting advice about mentioning family illness in personal statements. I recently heard Dr. Ryan Gray on a premed podcast say if the moment you realized you wanted to be a physician was... Personal Statement Advice (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Studying/note taking
Going to start med school in a couple of months and was wondering: how do people take notes/study? In undergrad, I went to lecture (took notes), podcasted at home and re-wrote my notes (color-coded), then studied flashcards and made condensed notes. That worked pretty well. Can I keep doing this in med school? I never printed out the powerpoints or wrote on them. If there was an important image, I would draw it in my notes. I've heard there are a lot more visuals/diagrams in med school so... Studying/note taking (Source: Student Doctor Network)
