Chilling new message from a pharmacy podcast
Notion that one may need to work in the service industry, banks, food industry, "any job" to "prepare" for a pharmacy job. Doctorate degree, residency training, etc to be considered just a "college graduate,". WOW Maybe even more disheartening are the hopes that immunizations will rescue this profession. Hope this is a wake up call and a reality check. I hope that I didn't misconstrue what Tony is saying, but this is really sad for me to hear. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Pharmacy schools now accept more than 80% of applicants
The host of the Pharmacy Leaders Podcast posted these admissions statistics first on Facebook, where I got the idea for this article. One experienced pharmacist commented on the thread, When I graduated in 2001 the running joke was if you have a license and a pulse pharmacies throw money at you to hire you. Now it should be “Do you have a pulse and an approved loan application? We’ll take you! [URL... Pharmacy schools now accept more than 80% of applicants (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Are Medical School students currently struggling more than usual with remote learning or is this essentially how Medical School has always been?
I'm curious because I'm not particularly enjoying this remote learning system as an undergrad - I long to be back in a lecture hall and in office hours with the professors. But I recall that many Medical Students skip most of their in-person lectures and simply watch podcasts in double speed from home...this for hours on end. Is this current remote learning system a taste of what Medical School will be like? I mean, I know that part of the struggle now is just the inability to leave... Favorite pharmacy related podcasts?
Just starting to get more into them during my long walks (nothing else to do during this lockdown). What do you all listen to? Mainly interested in infectious disease, critical care, and emergency medicine. Most of what I have found and more physician related, which is OK, but prefer something more directed at drug therapy (vs diagnosis, etc). I have listened to EM RAP and EM CRIT. thanks (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Journal of Psychedelic Psychiatry
Hey there! Long time lurker of this sub, probably since undergrad. Wanted to share with the community a new journal that was created by a group of residents. We just published the first edition of our journal yesterday and released our first podcast last week. Would love to hear feedback from the SDN community. Below is a link to the first edition of our journal. Podcast can be found on Spotify or on our website. [URL... Journal of Psychedelic Psychiatry (Source: Student Doctor Network)

The L Word: Doctors and Litigation Podcast
I rarely if ever post, but I do lurk hard on this forum.... A podcast was recently recommended to me that I have found really really interesting as a relatively young attending. It is at times infuriating but very educational. I thought the readers/posters here would enjoy it. Doctors and Litigation: The L Word The majority of physicians will be sued during their career, yet the topic is largely taboo. This podcast for physicians discusses malpractice litigation and litigation stress, with the voices of doctors who have been through it. Musi...

Spotify Podcasts?
Anyone know of good podcasts on spotify that are specific to medicine? I really like Ted Med but unfortunately not on spotify. Been listening to radio lab lately but not much medical stuff on there. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Indecision in 3rd Year
Our school e-mailed that we should be getting prepared to apply for away rotations soon (Dec/Jan) & I have locations picked out where I would like to rotate, the problem is I am getting less & less sure of what I want to do. Anybody else in the same position? Any other residents or 4rth year students have advice on what to do? I have tried the AMA quiz before, listened to several The Undifferentiated Medical Student (TUMS) podcasts, talked with several people. When I first decided I wanted... What's your CME budget
Since the military no longer has a CME budget, I was just curious what you guys are setting aside for CME out of your salary and what you're doing with it. I was currently thinking of setting aside about $1400/year and investing in an annual Medstudy Qbank ($250), PedsRap Podcast ($400), a new textbook each year ($100), AAP Membership w/ Prep Qbank and Pediatrics Journal ($500), and journal subscriptions to NEJM, Journal of Perinatology, and Pediatric Hospitalist ($150). I could also... What's your CME budget (Source: Student Doctor Network)
