Improving Workflow
I'm using Anki and finding it very helpful. I have an inquiry regarding workflow: how do you save time when making cards? I have approx. 1200 slides to go through (i.e. make cards in Anki) but it seems like it's taking me an inordinate time to make cards. I already learned the material and I'm just using Anki to make tricky details "stick".I have found several add-ons to improve work flow but I'm just looking for some pointers. In addition, does listening to podcasts while creating cards... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Podcast suggestions
What’s everyone’s go-to podcasts? Not necessarily all medical ones either. My favorite ones right now are planet money, freakonomics and the white coat investor. I also have a couple of fantasy football shows I listen to but that season is over. ACCRAC is the one medical podcast I will regularly listen to. So, what are you guys listening to on your commutes? Help me be a lazy bum and avoid the horrible search feature on the podcast app. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

COVID: Omicron and other topics
I guess we don't really have an ongoing COVID thread...or if we did it hasn't been used in several months. Anybody ever listen to ZDoggMD podcasts? Audiobook for NPTE studying?
Hello! I'm planning on taking the NPTE in April, but have a 3 hr. M-F driving commute (1.5 hr ea. way) to my clinic. It would be nice if I could use some of that driving time productively, so am wondering if anyone knows of a good audiobook/podcast series that may be beneficial to listen to in the car??? I've already listened to these: http://www.newgradphysicaltherapy.com/audio-education-series/ so would like something new. Any ideas? Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Ceftriaxone gonorrhea IV vs IM
CDC has recently updated their gonorrhea ceftriaxone from 250 mg IM to 500 mg IM. At no point in the guidance does it discuss giving it via IV. I have seen the product information packet where serum concentrations are compared and after 4 hrs it looks quite similar. It seems to me that IV can be used as a route. I also saw a few emergency medicine podcasts that supported the idea of giving it IV if patient has IV access. Does anyone know if the CDC has any comments about this issue... RO-APM Podcast Episode (from The Accelerators)
I think those of us who frequent RadOnc Social Media are aware that Simul/Spraker/Laucis started a podcast recently called "The Accelerators". They just released a beast of an episode, available on Spotify here. I know for me, trying to learn about the APM has been very difficult and time consuming, even when I consider reading about RadOnc policy and economics to be basically my main hobby. They do an incredible job having a discussion about what the APM is, what it affects... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Dental Boards Podcast - Response Requested!
A classmate and I created a podcast reviewing high yield facts for the INBDE. We wanted to get the word out to dental students that are reviewing for the new INBDE exam! It's case-based podcast based on patient cases from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry that incorporates high-yield boards information to help students prepare for the INBDE. There's a survey link as well (we are collecting responses as part of a study to evaluate podcast use in dental education!) . We hope it... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Application volume this cycle
Hi all, just out of curiosity is there any way to tell what the application load is like this cycle? Following last cycle's massive increase in applicants I am wondering what this year will look like. Are there any admissions podcasts/blogs/information sources that discuss the state of the current cycle? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What goes into the rankings?
This podcast about undergraduate ranking was very eye-opening. I greatly regret that med school assessments use these rankings as a measure of the level of difficulty of a school's curriculum when it is about something far different. Lord of the Rankings - Pushkin For 30 years, US News & World Report has been using a secret formula to rank the best colleges and universities in the United States. As a public service to our listeners, we hack the algorithm and discover the dirty little secret of the rankings game. ...

The Shelf Life of Psych Podcast
Mods, feel free to remove this if it’s illegal, I couldn’t figure out how to message you before posting this. So I’m an intern and recently started a podcast called the shelf life of psych. It’s intended for third and fourth year medical students to prepare for their psychiatry rotations and their psychiatry shelf exams. I also periodically bring on a practicing psychiatrists who talk about why they chose psychiatry, what makes a good medical student in psychiatry, how to apply for...
