Texas DPT Wave 2023-2024
Hello! I noticed that a thread hasn't been started for the 2023-2024 application cycle for Texas PT schools, so I figured I would get one going. I think it would be good to stay updated on where schools are at with their processes and also celebrate each others interviews and acceptances! Feel free to post your stats, where you are applying, and any updates on your applications! I applied to UTSW, UNTHSC, and TTUHSC (Source: Student Doctor Network)

California PTs: Question about hourly pay?
I'm currently a full-time salaried PT in cash-based OP ortho, but I'm switching to part-time. My employer is offering me to switch to hourly, but the only hours I will be paid for are the hours that I am with patients (each appointment is 1 hour). I have talked to a lot of non-PT people while trying to decide whether or not to do this, and a lot of people are mentioning that this violates labor laws, and that I would need to be paid for time spent on documentation outside of patient hours... Orthopedic/Sports Residency in Texas (Physical Therapy)
This question is for those who are in a residency program for Orthopedics or Sports in the field of Physical Therpay OR those with experience applying for residencies: I'm finishing up my PT program in several months. I wanted to know if a GPA on the lower end would still be able to get into a residency. I've seen a lot of residencies say that they want 3.0+ GPA (I know its the minimum), but would they actually take someone with a lower GPA such as 3.1-3.2 GPA? Is there anything I can do to... The APTA ’s state of PT
Embarrassing how stagnated wages are. I make below the median for my region. Vision 2020 was a stunning success! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Advice Needed - Should I just start over?
I got accepted into 3 different DPT programs. I chose to attend an accelerated program. The curriculum consists of some full-term classes and then multiple bi-term classes (6 per semester) along with the full-term classes. There are no breaks. None. Everything moves so fast and because I wasn't a PTA before starting, everything is new learning. At the time it seemed like a good idea - get in, get out, make money. However, to be honest, I'm not sure that I'm learning at a deep enough level to... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

PTCAS Grade Calculation for Retaken classes
Hi all, Quick question for a friend applying to PT school soon. How does the PTCAS calculate grades from retaken classes? My friend has multiple Ds and Cs that she has later retaken for As and Be. Will she only report the most recent grade? Or will schools see both grades? And will her PTCAS prereq GPA and overall GPA only take into accout the most recent/better course or the average of the two grades? I know for my sake (premed) AMCAS does not do grade replacement and takes all courses... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Hi! I am currently applying to DPT school this cycle 2023-2024 and I am really nervous about getting rejected! My top school is WSSU one for the diversity aspect and affordability. If someone has any advice or any tips in regards to help my application please let me know. What do you like about being a PT?
I'm currently in the process of applying to PT school, and just finished submitting my applications on PTCAS. I went on Reddit (probably my first mistake there) and it seems most people don't enjoy being a physical therapist. I understand that tuition can be expensive, but are there people who enjoy being a physical therapist? Is there any positivity that can be shown about the profession? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Identity Question
Trying this again since I messed up the first post since I was trying to make it more public. I am starting PT school and our director of the school asked us a question that he wanted us to think about while in the program. The question was, when you're a PT what will your identity and its relation be to your community? How would you define it and how does your identity as a physical therapist and your community tie into your vision in the physical therapy field? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Re-starting on probation
Good evening fellow DPT students, So I have a dilemma I am faced with. I was in a program for fall 2022, passed 4 out of 6 courses. Failed 2. I was put on Academic Probation from January-August when the program will begin again. Recently, I had a meeting with one of my counselors and was told I have to take the entire semester over again. Even the classes I passed! Is this allowed? Should I speak to the Dean again? I am very upset and deceived. Especially when I was told in writing this... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
