Decisions around Deceased Organ Donation in Young South Asian Individuals in the United Kingdom
This study identified barriers around deceased organ donation decisions and demonstrates the need for further targeted and continual education to the young South Asians individuals, to produce positive associations that will percolate to older and future generations.PMID:37955457 | DOI:10.4103/1319-2442.389425 (Source: Saudi Journal of Kidney Diseases and Transplantation)

Evaluation of Opening Offers Early for Deceased Donor Kidneys at Risk of Nonutilization
CONCLUSIONS: Simulation findings indicate that opening offers and adjusting their timing can significantly reduce non-utilization of high-KDRI kidneys.PMID:37943856 | DOI:10.2215/CJN.0000000000000346 (Source: Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology : CJASN)

ECPR and Organ Donation: Emerging Clarity in Decision Making
Every organ donor counts, and the more organs that are utilised and transplanted from each organ, the more lives can be transformed both in quality and duration. Any source that can increase the pool of deceased donors is therefore welcomed. Patients dying from hypoxic brain injury, most commonly after out of hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA), are the second most common group after intracranial haemorrhage, and contribute to both donation after neurological determination of death / brain death (DBD) and donation after the circulatory determination of death (DCD) in many countries in the world. Expanding the Criteria for Heart Transplantation Donors: A Review of DCD, Increased Ischemic Times, HCV, HIV, and Extended Criteria Donors
Heart Surg Forum. 2023 Oct 30;26(5):E639-E655. doi: 10.59958/hsf.6677.ABSTRACTWith the demand for heart transplantation continuing to outpace the available donor organs, previously underutilized donors are now being reconsidered. We sought to describe the emerging techniques and outcomes of expanded criteria heart transplantation. A comprehensive review of the recent literature concerning expanded donor selection in heart transplantation was performed using the PubMed MEDLINE database. To characterize trends in transplant practice, the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS/OPTN) registry was queried for all adult isolated...
