Methylene blue for toxic shock?
This article review the experimental and clinical literature suggesting that methylene blue may have a role in reversing distributive shock (caused by vasodilatation). The two primary causes of distributive shock are anaphylaxis and sepsis. Certain drug overdoses, particularly those associated with dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers (e.g., nifedipine and amlodipine) can also produce shock from vasodilatation. Experimental evidence indicates that the nitric oxide-cyclic guanosine monophosphate pathway is a key factor in producing distributive shock; methylene blue selectively inhibits this pathway.  There are limit...
