Switching away from smoking at 12  months among adult JUUL users varying in recent history of quit attempts made with and without smoking cessation medication
Smoking status was analyzed among 8511 US adult smokers who purchased JUUL a year earlier. Switching (no smoking for 30-plus days) was common (59% overall), especially among those who had tried to quit in the year before purchasing JUUL, including those who had used NRT in the most recent quit attempt (others had not tried to quit or had used prescription stop-smoking medications). E-cigarettes provide an alternative route away from smoking for smokers with a history of cessation treatment failure. Comparative evaluation of the efficacy of nicotine chewing gum and nicotine patches as nicotine replacement therapy using salivary cotinine levels as a biochemical validation measure
