Work experience application form
In conclusion, I feel that I have built strong foundations for a career in medicine through showcasing a keen interest in both the internal workings of the human body and providing good patient care. My academic skills in accordance with my enthusiasm for education should allow me to enjoy a degree and life-long endeavour in medicine. What to do about a poor research experience
I'm in the process of completing an application for an MD-PhD program and of course the question about past research experience has come up. Two summers ago I approached a professor from my department as I was interested in carrying out a project under them. They interviewed me and I was told that they would be happy to have me. The project was to design and develop a therapeutic nanoparticle that could show efficacy as a treatment in-vitro. I was told that I would select the formulation and... CAP blames social media for "negative feedback about the specialty"
Factors Influencing US Allopathic Medical Students to Choose Pathology as a Specialty "Based on anecdotal evidence, the current decline [US medical students] may be related to changes in the undergraduate medical school curriculum over the past decade that have resulted in decreased exposure to pathology and pathologists, a negative perception of the current pathology job market, and negative feedback about the specialty posted on social media platforms." "Respondents who... CAP blames social media for "negative feedback about the specialty" (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Gardner's Thoughts on the Job Market
Gardner last edited this post in 2014. The topic of the pathology job market seems to have been discussed for as long as there have been pathologists (ok maybe not THAT long). Much of the debate over whether or not there are enough jobs centers on anecdotes, and most of these seem to originate from a friend of a friend of an anonymous poster on an online pathology discussion board (studentdoctor.net being the most notorious in my opinion). There have been some studies that show a... Click to expand... Gardner's Thoughts on the Job Market (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Masters in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology
Hello, I am currently pursuing a master's degree at my university in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. I graduated undergrad in May 2019 and planning to finish this while applying to medical school in 2020. (This would give a 2 year gap) There is a lot of research going on in Nanoscience, especially at my school. Everyone keeps saying that it is the future of medicine. I was wondering if anyone else took this route as well? Like going from a biomedical science background to engineering... Masters in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Sticker Price: Starting Solo Practice vs Buying Someone Out
PGY-1 here. I’ve searched high and low only to find that there’s very little info regarding DPMs starting a practice right out of residency. I’m very interested in this route. Please assume that I have the cash/credit needed to fully make this happen. What else is needed? How much total costs am I looking at the start my own practice? Please don’t respond “well that’s hard to answer”, as I can use deductive reasoning to figure that out. Basically I’m open to hypotheticals and anecdotes. Also... Prestige vs Support System
Forgive me if this is in the wrong place. I've been planning to go to UCSD this year, but have been recently accepted to a private school on the East Coast. After comparing financial aid packages, UCSD would be 36K more expensive (total, 4yr cost). I really liked both schools and find their curriculums (style, grading, electives) to be pretty comparable. I am from the east coast, and while both schools would be OOS for me, the private east coast school would be pretty close to my support... Prestige vs Support System (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Score another one for the predictive validity of the AAMC full lengths
Just got my scores this morning. I went into the exam shooting for a 510...and got a 510! I am elated. Coming out of the test, I felt like I had barely broken 500. I even entertained the idea of pressing the void button for a few nanoseconds. It's scary how well the AAMC full lengths predicted my performance on the real thing. Full length 1 (taken 07/05): 509, Chemical/physical: 124, CARS: 130, Biological: 127, Psych: 128 Full length 2 (taken 07/26): 510, Chemical/physical: 125, CARS: 132,...
