What is a Consumer Confidence Report?
The 1996 Amendments to the Safe Drinking Water Act implemented the Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) rule. The CCR rule required all community water systems to issue annual drinking water quality reports to their consumers by July 1st of each year. A CCR is required to include all of the following: The lake, river, aquifer or other source of your drinking water A brief summary of the pollution threats to the sources of your drinking water based on investigations called “source water assessments.” All states must have their source water assessments completed by May 2003. Information on how to get a copy of the water c...

Nutrition for Pregnancy and Beyond
Moms-to-be already know how important nutrition is to the health of their developing child, but experts say expecting parents should also pay close attention to the food itself. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that 1 in 6 Americans are stricken by food poisoning every year, with 128,000 Americans going to the hospital as a result of contaminated food.   The immune system is changed during pregnancy, which can make expecting mothers more susceptible to these types of bacteria, according to Dr. Pamela Schultz, an Oakhurst obstetrician-gynecologist who is affiliated with Jersey Shore University M...

African Women Injected With Vaccines Laced with Anti-fertility Hormones
Conclusion Looking back through the history of hCG-spiked tetanus vaccines, there is no doubt in my mind that vaccines containing the hCG hormone have been used on women of childbearing ages in Kenya in what can only be described as a deliberate attempt to reduce the population. I feel that, instead of criticism that the masses are currently lobbying at Dr. Wahome Ngare, they should instead applaud his brave actions. After all, not many doctors would have been prepared to put their life on the line for young women in Kenya and around the world by sharing the truth about these dangerous vaccines.   ...

After a miscarriage: Answers to your difficult questions
I chose to become an OB/GYN because I love delivering babies and bringing joy to expectant parents. It is by far the most rewarding part of my job. Seeing the sense of pride on a new dad’s face, the joyful tears in a happy mother’s eyes, or the inquisitive look of a young big brother or sister is priceless and makes my “job” feel more like a privilege. Bringing a new life into the world is an opportunity that all of us OB/GYNs keep sacred and is the main reason why many of us chose the field. But like all things in life there’s a downside to everything, and my job is no different. Continue reading ... Your pati...

Obama's Big Idea: Let's Hike Federal Cop Subsidies
Walter Olson President Obama’s newly announced police-reform package lives up to one’s worst expectations. He flatly refuses to curtail the federal police militarization program, instead calling for a big hike in federal spending on aid to local departments with the usual micromanaging strings attached. These strings will predictably make departments more responsive to Washington, and lobbies with clout there, as distinct from their local communities. As USA Today notes, one powerful interest group has been especially active behind the scenes: “The Fraternal Order of Police, the nation’s largest...

Healthcare Update Satellite — 11-04-2014
Back with more of the Ebola Chronicles … Ebola fears causing discrimination problems all over the US. Thomas Duncan died from Ebola. Now his fiancee is having difficulty finding a place to live as landlords are refusing to rent to her. People of African descent are facing discrimination just because they are from Africa. Mothers of some school children told one African cafeteria worker to leave the school because she “might have Ebola.” In Liberia, bleeding patients are often refused medical care due to Ebola fears. The picture at the link shows a picture of a woman who was bleeding heavily from a miscarr...

On Abortion, Jail, Parental Responsibility & Bad Judgement
Jennifer Whalen, a 39 year old mother of three from rural Pennsylvania, is serving a 9-18 month jail sentence for purchasing and dispensing abortion-causing medications to help her teenage daughter abort an unplanned pregnancy. The case is being used as an example of the lengths that women will go to to end a pregnancy when abortion is not immediately and freely available. And perhaps it is. But it’s also an example of just how easy we expect everything to be, and how those expectations are leading us to do things that are really, really stupid. Because make no mistake. What Whalen did was stupid, irresponsible and d...

The CDC: A Truly Corrupt and Dangerous Organization
Conclusion It is clear that the CDC cannot be trusted when it comes to giving advice about vaccinations. Over the years, evidence has shown that the CDC continually lies, withholds evidence and fixes data to obtain the results that they want to achieve. Due to their continual dishonesty, many children have suffered lifelong disabilities as a result. Although, for many of their parents, the latest revelations have offered a glimmer of hope in a very dark world, it has also caused many parents to just break down and weep, like one mother known to myself. This is a tragic waste of the future potential of thousands of children...

The do nothing consultation
The last few consultations I have done have been what I call “ do-nothing consultations “. This is when I tell the patient that they do not need my help in order to get pregnant  ; and that their best course of action would be continue trying in their bedroom. This might seem to be very unusual advice coming from an IVF specialist . Because I am a senior specialist, most patients come to me for a second ( and often third ) opinion , in order to have their tests and investigations reviewed by an expert. Often they have been advised surgery by a gynecologist or infertile specialist, and they need to make sure they a...

Waiting Like I Am
The line on the pregnancy test this morning is only faintly positive and in a way I’m glad it isn’t the same bold line that we celebrated with champagne seven months ago. That night, grinning ear to ear, sugar plum babies dancing in our heads, Jen and I felt like the luckiest lesbians in the world to have gotten pregnant on our first attempt.   “Guess what?” I sent in a text to Kate the next morning.  My best friend from high school and Jen’s best friend from college, Kate was responsible for us getting together five years earlier and had been following our baby-acquiring progress ever since.  A year ago, she...

Mayo Clinic and Whole Biome to Study Microbiome in Women's Diseases
The human microbiome is defined as the set of microorganisms that reside on the skin surface and in its deep layers, in the saliva and other moist mucosas, in the conjunctiva, and in the gastrointestinal tract (see: Human microbiome). There has been conjecture that the microbiome contributes to or causes various diseases but it's not clear exactly how. Mayo Clinic and Whole Biome are beginning to study the role of the microbiome in women's diseases (see: Mayo Clinic and Whole Biome Announce Collaboration to Research the Role of the Human Microbiome in Women’s Diseases Using Unique Medical Labora...

After giving birth, the small sting that hurt the most
My second miscarriage started in a Starbucks bathroom, and I couldn’t have felt more alone. Where to go from there? I drove home, took as much ibuprofen as I could stomach, and resolved to quit my stressful teaching job. I found a new position at a nonprofit, training writers to teach in public schools. My husband, who’d always been an entrepreneur, continued to lead a startup that encouraged girls to dream big. Our jobs provided no health insurance, but we weren’t letting go of our aspirations. We looked at individual plans. The best was worse than bad. In Texas only $2,000 could be allocated toward expenses for a ...

The First Mothers Day
Mothers Day, 2011.As I stared into the church rafters that day, I wondered if I,indeed, would be joining those ranks soon. It was a melancholy sort of feeling..and an intense one,to boot. But it was far too early for even a blood test. I could hear the words of my Endocrinologist echoing in my brain..and she was of the opinion that this was it..time to batten down the blood sugar hatches. She would prove to be right.Five days later, my world shifted on its axis ("hello, yes, you are pregnant")and every "am I or aren't I" symptom hit with a bang. (At 28 days) My little blastocyst lost no time in announcing his likes/dislikes ...

NK cell testing – yet another way to exploit the vulnerable infertile patient!
This is a guest post from our expert patient, Manju.I get mails from patients saying that their NK cell number or NK cell activity is high and hence their doctor has asked  them to undergo  immunotherapy , using either IVIG infusion ; or intralipid therapy; Lymphocyte Immunotherapy (LIT) ; or tumour necrosis factor alpha blocking agents and steroids , or a combination of these, in order to 'treat' this abnormality.  They are advised that, by doing this, they can improve their chance of having a baby. Is this claim justified ? What are NK cells ? What are their functions in human body ? How are they connected...

Sex During Pregnancy
Yes, there will be changes in your sex life while you’re pregnant, but many women and men want to know if sex is safe during pregnancy. Communication is key between partners and doctors to ensure everything is fine and continued sex is safe. Intimacy should play a huge role during those 9 months, whether it’s sex or kissing, cuddling, and caressing. Many women go through stages that range from being extremely sexual to extremely nonsexual. But again, communication lines need to remain open with everyone involved. When Sex is Safe During Pregnancy As long as your pregnancy is considered “normal”, sex...
