Biochemical component analysis of human myopic corneal stroma using the Raman spectrum
Conclusion These results demonstrated that Raman spectroscopy has much potential as a fast, cost-effective, and reliable diagnostic tool in the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases, including myopia, keratoconus, and corneal infection. (Source: International Ophthalmology)

At a glance
Characterisation of ectasia after penetrating keratoplasty in keratoconus eyes using anterior-segment optical coherence tomography (see page 506) Optical coherence tomography can be used to image corneal ectasia which occurs late following penetrating keratoplasty. Corneas with late post-keratoplasty ectasia have a deeper anterior chamber, steeper graft-host interface angle, and lower thickness at the interface Crystalline lens nuclear age prediction as a new biomarker of nucleus degeneration (see page 513) A deep learning algorithm was developed to predict nuclear age, which provides insight into the premature ageing of t...

Outcomes of accelerated corneal cross-linking for pediatric and adult keratoconus: a comparative study
ConclusionsDespite the similarity in visual, refractive, and topographic outcomes in both groups, younger age was associated with KC progression after ACXL at one year of follow-up. (Source: International Ophthalmology)

The effect of transepithelial corneal collagen cross-linking treatment on optical quality of the cornea in keratoconus: 12-month clinical results
ConclusionsTransepithelial CXL was effective in stabilizing the keratometric indices and improving the most corneal aberrations in keratoconic eyes 1  year after the procedure. While the healing effect on aberrations after CXL was in total and anterior parameters, no significant changes were observed in the posterior surface. In addition, it was observed that transepithelial CXL treatment did not cause a significant change in PSF distribution da ta. (Source: International Ophthalmology)

Corneal biomechanics and diagnostics: a review
ConclusionsIdentification of pathological corneas is crucial for the prevention of postoperative complications. Therefore, a better understanding of corneal biomechanics will lead to earlier diagnosis of ectatic disorders, improve current refractive surgeries and allow for a better postoperative treatment.
