Plethysmography: A game changer for chronic venous insufficiency diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up
CONCLUSION: D-PPG shows potential as a valuable tool in the diagnosis and treatment of CVI. By providing information about venous hemodynamics and volume changes, it can assist in optimizing treatment decisions, including saphenous vein preservation. Combining D-PPG with Doppler USG may improve the comprehensive assessment of CVI and change the treatment option, especially for CEAP 2 patients. More research is needed to confirm these findings and explore wider applications of plethysmographic methods in the management of CVI.PMID:38509041 | DOI:10.1177/17085381241240870 (Source: Vascular)

Passive leg raising modulates low-frequency oscillation propagation in peripheral atherosclerosis: A pilot study
CONCLUSION: The coherence coefficient and phase shift characteristics of LFOs were different between healthy subjects and PAD patients. LFOs have the potential to provide valuable physiological process information associated with atherosclerosis in the periphery.PMID:38513670 | DOI:10.1177/17085381241240686 (Source: Vascular)

The role of the vascular surgeon in transcatheter aortic valve implantation
CONCLUSION: In our experience, Vascular Surgeon assistance in TAVI procedures was not infrequent and allowed safe and effective device introduction through challenging TF access. Similarly, the concomitant significant disease of other vascular districts could be safely addressed, potentially reducing postoperative related mortality and morbidity. The implementation of multidisciplinary team with interventional cardiologists and vascular surgeons should be encouraged whenever possible.PMID:38504140 | DOI:10.1177/17085381241237844 (Source: Vascular)

Efficacy and safety analysis of AcoStream thrombus aspiration device in the treatment of acute superior mesenteric artery embolism
CONCLUSIONS: As shown in the present study, percutaneous mechanical thrombectomy using AcoStream™ is minimally invasive, safe, and efficient in the initial stage of acute superior mesenteric artery embolism. We believe that percutaneous mechanical thrombectomy can be a promising alternative in selected cases.PMID:38504434 | DOI:10.1177/17085381241240865 (Source: Vascular)

Generative artificial intelligence chatbots may provide appropriate informational responses to common vascular surgery questions by patients
CONCLUSIONS: AI offers a novel means of educating patients that avoids the inundation of information from "Dr Google" and the time barriers of physician-patient encounters. ChatGPT provides largely valid, though imperfect, responses to myriad patient questions at the expense of readability. While Bard responses are more readable and concise, their quality is poorer. Further research is warranted to better understand failure points for large language models in vascular surgery patient education.PMID:38500300 | DOI:10.1177/17085381241240550 (Source: Vascular)

Diagnosis and treatment of venous thromboembolism during pregnancy relate to genetic polymorphism
CONCLUSION: Inherited thrombophilia significantly associated with the development of VTE, especially the FVL and PGM, however the relation between MTHFR gene mutation and pregnancy-related VTE remains controversial, further study is needed. In addition, the dosages of heparin in the treatment of VTE during pregnancy suggested to adjusted based on gene polymorphism in FVL and PGM, and establish better prediction models is a direction of future research.PMID:38490955 | DOI:10.1177/17085381241240554 (Source: Vascular)
