Acute ischemic stroke: The role of emergency carotid endarterectomy in isolated extracranial internal carotid artery occlusion
CONCLUSIONS: Emergency CEA in isolated eICA occlusion has proved to be a safe and effective treatment option in selected patients. CT perfusion, imaging the ischemic penumbra and quantifying the tissue suitable for reperfusion, offers a valid support in the diagnostic-therapeutic workup. Indeed, we can infer that the area of the ischemic penumbra is directly proportional to the margin of clinical improvement after revascularization, supposing that the appropriate intervention timing is respect.PMID:37594376 | DOI:10.1177/17085381231192712 (Source: Vascular)

Impact of stent compression in patients with non-thrombotic iliac vein lesions on iliac vein blood flow and related symptoms
CONCLUSIONS: BFVs in stented segments remained steady and the symptoms in lower extremities improved after surgery, while stent compression was observed in the diameter of the proximal stented segment, with no impact on BFVs or symptoms.PMID:37589699 | DOI:10.1177/17085381231194932 (Source: Vascular)

The effects of high quality team medicine on outcomes of chronic limb-threatening ischemia patients with infrapopliteal bypass
CONCLUSIONS: A reorganized team approach with the goal of higher quality was independently associated with reduced major amputation for patients with CLTI treated with infrapopliteal bypass. This result indicates the importance of a high quality team approach for success of this treatment.PMID:37551800 | DOI:10.1177/17085381231194959 (Source: Vascular)

Analysis of systemic risk factors between diabetic/vascular patients having primary lower limb amputations and re-amputations
Conclusions: Factors that were significantly correlated with increased re-amputation rates have a clear pathologic pathway that affects vascularity and wound healing. Further studies should be aimed at developing a clear scoring system that can be used to stratify patient for re-amputation risk, and to better predict the results according to the severity of diabetes.PMID:37552100 | DOI:10.1177/17085381231194964 (Source: Vascular)

Carotid artery dissections from transcarotid artery revascularization as reported by the Food and Drug Administration
CONCLUSION: CD is the most common injury related to TCAR as reported on MAUDE. The most commonly reported procedural event associated with CD was sheath placement. The rate of intraoperative endovascular and open surgical CD repair was associated with whether the access to the true lumen of the carotid artery required additional access attempts or not. This should add qualitative insight among the vascular surgery community regarding intraoperative management of CDs from a TCAR procedure.PMID:37553285 | DOI:10.1177/17085381231194410 (Source: Vascular)
