A comprehensive review of the epidemiology and clinical features of 91 cases with Buerger's disease
CONCLUSION: Some patients may experience mild, subtle symptoms for years before the initial signs and symptoms appear, which can be severe and rapidly progress to the point of requiring amputation. We suggest that the diagnostic criteria for Buerger's disease should be revised in light of the presence of atherosclerosis and its associated risk factors, which present a challenge in terms of diagnosis and treatment. Clinical experience will be of great importance in this regard.PMID:37172074 | DOI:10.1177/17085381231175257 (Source: Vascular)

Bypass and other modified reconstruction techniques for 'challenging' carotid cases: A comparison with conventional endarterectomy
CONCLUSIONS: Patients who underwent ICA revascularization with MCAR showed risks of perioperative death, major or minor stroke (<2%), reintervention rates and carotid restenosis rates that are comparable with PCEA or ECEA groups. Nevertheless, the MCAR group showed a significantly higher rate of global central neurological complications (considering together TIA, minor stroke and major stroke) than patients treated with standard CEA. MCAR techniques appear to be effective alternatives to standard CEAs, with an acceptable surgical risk. However, these should be performed mainly in selected cases, for example, in complex ...

Strain-gauge venous occlusion plethysmography: An objective and non-invasive approach to the evaluation of venous hemodynamics in patients with acute deep-vein thrombosis undergoing post-pharmacomechanical thrombolysis
CONCLUSIONS: Pharmacomechanical thrombolysis is an effective treatment approach for patients with acute DVT. Providing non-invasive objective data supporting the diagnosis and follow-up of venous diseases, the SGVOP approach offers significant benefits and should be considered more frequently as a viable therapy.PMID:37167292 | DOI:10.1177/17085381231174951 (Source: Vascular)

Anatomical variations of the great saphenous vein at the saphenofemoral junction. A cadaveric study and narrative review of the literature
CONCLUSIONS: There is a significant variation of tributaries at the saphenofemoral junction regarding the number, incidence, draining pattern of branches, and duplication of the great saphenous vein.PMID:37160721 | DOI:10.1177/17085381231174917 (Source: Vascular)

To patch, or not to patch a common femoral artery, that is the question
CONCLUSIONS: Wound complications after FE with or without patching are not uncommon and often lead to reoperations. The PP rates of CFAs with a minimum diameter of 5.5 mm and accomplished with or without patching are comparable. Female sex is associated with the loss of patency.PMID:37155584 | DOI:10.1177/17085381231174702 (Source: Vascular)

Does complete blood count have a role in the prediction of deep vein thrombosis?
CONCLUSION: We found RDW and PDW to be significant in terms of DVT prediction in our study. We found the NLR and MPV/PLT to be higher in the DVT group, and the LMR to be lower in the DVT group, but we found that there was no statistically significant predictive value. CBC can be used as an inexpensive and easily accessible test that has predictive significance for DVT. In addition, these findings need to be supported by prospective studies in the future.PMID:37155599 | DOI:10.1177/17085381231175260 (Source: Vascular)
