Examining the relationship between subtypes of rumination and non-suicidal self-injury: A meta-analytic review
CONCLUSION: Results of this study support the relationships between rumination subtypes and NSSI and identify factors that may impact these relationships. Continued research is needed to understand this association, particularly in more varied subtypes of rumination and cognitive-affective moderators.PMID:38411021 | DOI:10.1111/sltb.13051 (Source: Suicide and Life-Threatening Behavior)

Examining the integrated model of the interpersonal-psychological theory of suicide and intersectionality theory among Black male adolescents
CONCLUSION: These findings highlight the need for research, interventions, and policy work devoted to using integrated approaches of individual and socioeconomically relevant patterns of suicidal thoughts and behaviors to support Black youth exposed to various forms of structural oppression.PMID:38411036 | DOI:10.1111/sltb.13066 (Source: Suicide and Life-Threatening Behavior)

The effect of parent-adolescent discrepancies in reports of familial dysfunction and depression on suicidal ideation in adolescents
CONCLUSIONS: Our results suggest that parent-adolescent discrepancies in perception of familial dysfunction is a risk factor for poor outcomes in suicidal youth and might be a fruitful target in treatment programs.PMID:38385782 | DOI:10.1111/sltb.13062 (Source: Suicide and Life-Threatening Behavior)

Project Safe Guard: Challenges and opportunities of a universal rollout of peer-delivered lethal means safety counseling at a US military installation
CONCLUSIONS: Despite strong preprogram support for peer-delivered LMSC and behavioral indicators of secure firearm storage (e.g., firearm locking device requests), several challenges limited the uptake and evaluability of the PSG program in this naturalistic environment, including military survey fatigue and competing mission priorities. Additional work is needed to determine the effectiveness of peer-delivered LMSC in a military context. Sustained base support and military-civilian collaborations will be critical.PMID:38380441 | DOI:10.1111/sltb.13050 (Source: Suicide and Life-Threatening Behavior)

The impact of relationship type and closeness on mental health following suicide loss
CONCLUSION: Closeness, familial status, and friend status are associated with mental health symptoms experienced after suicide loss, but the magnitude of associations was strongest for closeness. Future studies should examine perceived closeness in addition to other factors related to relationship type and dynamics to assess the complexities of suicide bereavement reactions.PMID:38375945 | DOI:10.1111/sltb.13063 (Source: Suicide and Life-Threatening Behavior)

An analysis of real-time suicidal ideation and its relationship with retrospective reports among young people with borderline personality disorder
CONCLUSION: Findings suggest that young people with BPD experience high levels of fluctuation in their intensity of suicidal ideation across a week and that retrospective reports of suicidal ideation might be more reflective of the most intense experience of suicidal ideation across the week.PMID:38375970 | DOI:10.1111/sltb.13058 (Source: Suicide and Life-Threatening Behavior)

Prevalence and risk factors of suicide attempts among Chinese elderly patients over 50  years with schizophrenia
CONCLUSIONS: Our research shows that there is a high incidence of suicide attempts in people over 50 years of age with schizophrenia. A number of clinically relevant factors and metabolic markers are associated with suicide attempts among elderly patients with schizophrenia.PMID:38363017 | DOI:10.1111/sltb.13057 (Source: Suicide and Life-Threatening Behavior)
