Predicting suicidal ideation in psychiatrically hospitalized veterans using the death/suicide Implicit Association Test: A prospective cohort study
CONCLUSION: The full-scale D/S-IAT score predicted the current intensity of wishes to be dead in both inpatient samples, and current and imminent SI in participants admitted for SI/SB. The dichotomized D/S-IAT score did not predict the simple occurrence of SI.PMID:37752832 | DOI:10.1111/sltb.12998 (Source: Suicide and Life-Threatening Behavior)

Werther or Papageno? Examining the effects of news reports of celebrity suicide versus non-celebrity peer suicide on intentions to seek help among vulnerable young adults
CONCLUSIONS: This research could not establish Werther effects for either of the news reports. Exposure to news reports of non-celebrity suicides had a small positive effect on intentions overall, but young adults with higher levels of depression were slightly more motivated to seek help after viewing news reports of celebrity suicides.PMID:37750193 | DOI:10.1111/sltb.13004 (Source: Suicide and Life-Threatening Behavior)

The role of thwarted belongingness and perceived burdensomeness in passive suicide ideation among Latinx and Black youth
CONCLUSION: These findings confirm the importance of examining the IPTS constructs and their relationship to passive SI in diverse populations. The relationship between TB and SI in Latinx and Black youth suggests it may be an important target for suicide prevention.PMID:37720934 | DOI:10.1111/sltb.13003 (Source: Suicide and Life-Threatening Behavior)
