Validity, reliability and hierarchical structure of the PID ‐5 among Egyptian college students: Using exploratory structural equation modelling
DiscussionGenerally, the PID ‐5 showed sufficient reliability and validity; however, there were significant cross‐loadings that have been discussed in detail in the succeeding text. Further, this is the first study in the Arab world that uses exploratory structural equation modelling and build a hierarchical structure to in vestigate the PID‐5. © 2020 John Wiley& Sons, Ltd. Further examination of DSM ‐5 antisocial personality disorder and psychopathy: Findings from a female correctional sample
AbstractA longstanding concern regarding the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) diagnosis of antisocial personality disorder (ASPD) has been its poor coverage of the construct of psychopathy. The most recent edition, the DSM ‐5, has proposed an alternative model of personality disorders (AMPD) in Section III of the manual to rectify some of these concerns by offering a trait‐based model comprised of seven personality traits and a psychopathy specifier containing three additional traits. The current study sought to r eplicate and expand on previous findings that the AMPD operationalization of AS...

How is childhood maltreatment linked to benign envy/malicious envy? The mediating role of self ‐esteem, authentic pride and hubristic pride
ConclusionsAuthentic pride, hubristic pride and self ‐esteem might be the possible mechanisms through which childhood maltreatment influences benign envy/malicious envy in adulthood. This study provides insights into the role of pride and self‐esteem in the childhood maltreatment–benign (malicious) envy link from the perspective of the learned h elplessness theory. © 2020 John Wiley& Sons, Ltd. Substance use disorders and criminal justice contact among those with co ‐occurring antisocial and borderline personality disorders: Findings from a nationally representative sample
AbstractOne variant of borderline personality disorder (BPD), frequently encountered in forensic and correctional samples, is the ‘dissocial’ subtype that combines borderline and antisocial traits. We tested the hypothesis that this subtype, defined by the co‐occurrence of antisocial personality disorder (ASPD) and BPD (ASPD + BPD), would be associated with high rates of substance use disorder and contact with the crim inal justice (CJ) system in a large nationally representative sample of North American adults (N = 36 309). Results suggested that the dissocial variant of BPD was associated with a high risk for ...

Access to psychotherapy for patients with personality disorders
AbstractThe best evidence for effective treatment of personality disorder supports the use of specialized forms of psychotherapy. However, these forms of treatment are generally unavailable in health care systems. This may be partly due to the expense of routinely offering long ‐term therapies. There is evidence that psychotherapy for personality disorder is cost‐effective. One way to address this problem is to treat most patients more briefly. © 2020 John Wiley& Sons, Ltd.
