Exploring the Caregiver Role after Deep Brain Stimulation Surgery for Parkinson's Disease: A Qualitative Analysis
Parkinsons Dis. 2023 Apr 5;2023:5932865. doi: 10.1155/2023/5932865. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTThis pilot study aimed to explore how caregiver spouses make sense of themselves one and five years after their partner's deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgery for Parkinson's disease. 16 spouse (8 husbands and 8 wives) caregivers were recruited for the interview. Eight struggled to reflect on their own lived experience and primarily focused on the impact of PD on their partners, such that their transcripts were no longer viable for interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA). Prevalence and Factors Associated with Drooling in Parkinson's Disease: Results from a Longitudinal Prospective Cohort and Comparison with a Control Group
CONCLUSION: Drooling is frequent in PD patients even at the initial onset of the disease and is associated with a greater motor severity and NMS burden.PMID:37065970 | PMC:PMC10101739 | DOI:10.1155/2023/3104425 (Source: Parkinsons Disease)
