Longer Retention Time of Fluoridated Varnishes Enhances Enamel Remineralisation In Vitro
Conclusion: Remineralisation of enamel lesions using 5% NaF varnish appears to be initially dependent on the retention time of the product. Higher remineralisation was observed upon 18 h of varnish retention on the lesions. (Source: Oral health and Preventive dentistry)

Efficacy of Chlorhexidine, Xylitol, and Chlorhexidine + Xylitol against Dental Plaque, Gingivitis, and Salivary Streptococcus mutans Load: A Randomised Controlled Trial
Conclusion: The present study provided sufficient data to suggest that all the three mouthwashes are effective against plaque, gingivitis and S. mutans load in saliva. Further investigations should be carried out to confirm the results and develop strategies for using such products to prevent tooth decay. (Source: Oral health and Preventive dentistry)

Relationship Between the Severity of Malocclusion and Oral Health Related Quality of Life: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis
Conclusion: Untreated malocclusion was significantly associated with OHRQoL. The more severe the malocclusion, the worse was the impact on some physical domains and all psychosocial domains of OHRQoL. There was a lack of longitudinal population-based studies to confirm this result. (Source: Oral health and Preventive dentistry)

Caries Prevalence and Risk Assessment in Thuringian Infants, Germany
Conclusion: Although caries prevalence and experience was relatively low in infants, one third of all children were categorised as being at high caries risk. Early dental visits are necessary to detect the first signs of caries, to assess the caries risk and to establish a dental home with a risk-related recall system. The caries-risk assessment tool (CAT) of the AAPD can assist the clinician in the decision-making process. (Source: Oral health and Preventive dentistry)
